  1. Not surprising, consumer reports just issued their reliability results and rated Lincoln the least reliable brand with the Aviator being the most egregious example. I have the extended warranty but even so I'm considering ditching this bad boy and going with a Q7. Eat the cost of the Expel Wrap and Tint I put on car and get a pro-rated refund on the warranty. Sucks but the number of trips I've had to the dealer already in one year is more than my last 3 cars combined.
  2. Blue screen has a recall that came out on Sept 23rd. Read it in my Lincoln Way App today after coming from dealer having my car for 20 days. They didn’t see the recall. Now I go back again tomorrow.
  3. Well folks finally got my car back today September 28th 20 days later. Turned out after air compressor replacement and a drive control module replacement the problem was a strut and seal that needed to be replaced. Hopefully they got it licked. Well drove home and pull in driveway and a check engine fault comes on. Then I go into Lincoln Way app and a recall is open on the aviator as of Sept 23rd for the rear camera relating to a PIN that can leak current. Don’t you think you would check any recalls prior to releasing the vehicle considering you had it for 20 days. Sort of comedic at this point.
  4. I call the dealer this am and it takes about 2 hours for the solo Lincoln service manager to call me back. Then to top things off the first thing he says he is disappointed I provided a negative review to Ford/Lincoln on survey I received. I told him that was my honest feedback. Pissed me off the first thing he is worried about is negative review. I told him every single time I've had the vehicle in which is at least 4 times to this dealer I've never been offered the pick up and drop off service and the last time for this repair I needed a loaner car for at least one day of the week prior to my vacation and nobody called me back to even tell me they couldn't get me one when they said they would try. Black label top of the line vehicle and my car was inoperable for a week and no loaner car be provided then rent me one. Every single time I had my vehicle serviced at Audi, BMW or Mercedes I had a loaner car every time. My wife's Toyota sienna every time has had a loaner. This vehicle is the highest price vehicle I ever have purchased and this is what you get. I walked into water in my basement coming back from my vacation form the remnants of IDA in NJ and I needed my car and it failed me and this guys first response and concern is the honest negative review I gave them for not fixing the repair. Otherwise a very nice man but that was telling to me! Yes people will say go to another dealer but the dealer I originally purchased from is 40 miles away and I picked up the same vibe from the service people when I had initial fixes upon delivery. I'm done always being the nice guy going out of my way to make them feel comfortable and not inconvenienced when I am the customer.
  5. Perhaps, however it's the closest dealer, which wasn't black label when I bought the car, but now is. Bought it 45 miles away and Lincoln road side only will tow to the nearest dealer. Needs flat bed back to dealer. Has your vehicle been relatively glitch free??
  6. Gotta love Lincoln. Take the car in for service. They "fix it" and I leave for vacation for two weeks. Come back and get into my car for first drive and get 3 miles down the road and I get the exact same two faults. Air Suspension Fault and Drive Control Malfunction. Awesome, had planned to head home to see my Dad in PA about 450 miles away. With this fault the vehicle can only be driven 30mph or below. Awesome, don't trust this vehicle whatsoever to drive any distance. I made a huge mistake buying this vehicle!!
  7. I have a 2020 BL Grand Touring and my faith in Lincoln Products was misplaced. Today pulling out of driveway, Drive Fault ("Drive below 30 mph") followed immediately by Air Suspension Fault occurs. I knew buying a US made car was a gamble, I thought Lincoln had their shit together, but every month literally there is a quirk with this car, the phone won't sync, the navigation display goes black, ACC stops working a half a day, etc. The standard response on this forum is take it to the dealer. Obvious, but what a pita to have to take your car numerous times to the dealer. I bought an extended warranty and thank God I did because I know I will need this. I am leaving for vacation this Friday and driving 500 miles. If this would have happened during that I would be stuck in the middle of PA on I-80. I literally have no confidence in this vehicle to drive it any distance without the feeling in the back of the my mind I hope I make it. That is nuts. I owned Audi, BMW and Mercedes for the last 30 years prior to this and never ever had a single maintenance problem other than the routine required maintenance when the screen told you to come in. America cannot compete making quality cars period. Same shit in the 70's with all my Dad's Fords. Every year at inspection there was some big repair bill the family could ill afford. I gave it one chance after swearing I would never buy an American car. Mistake and will have to ride this one out with the warranty. Thank God I retired and have time to deal with this crap. Would I buy it again, no way never will again. Has great tech, but if you get in the car and you have doubts about its reliability to the point you don't want to drive any long distance that's crazy. This car is almost 90k new. Just like my sons country balls meme says, "America, maker of inferior cars". So true!!
  8. No, its just annoying things that show me the attention to detail on the tech side just isn't there. Nowhere near lemon law levels in my opinion. The day after I wrote my post they announced another recall for a ton of Fords, including the Aviator. The vehicle rides nice but today again I had to unplug and replug my iphone in numerous times to get waze to recognize we were driving and not still at my house and my cell service was LTE with full bars so not a service issue. Its the handshake between the two devices. So unless it gets worse I will deal with the little annoyances and when the next service is due rattle them off to the dealer. I just think Lincoln, if they want to compete with Benz, BMW and Audi need to up their game and strive for perfection, because when you chase perfection you can catch excellence. Good enough should never be the goal! Lastly rolling out the vehicle in the Chicago assembly plant was not a great idea. Everyone will say they had to retool the plant, etc, etc. Then don't roll out the car on that line until it is almost six sigma perfect.
  9. My aviator will be one and done. I have the GT and prior to that I was Audi, Mercedes and BMW and the comparison after a year is the German's build better cars period. The amount of software glitches from my screen just randomly shutting off to car play saying I am still in my garage and I'm driving 20 miles away to the rear sensors about crippling me backing out of my garage to my mirror folding deciding to just stop working, etc is not anywhere near acceptable for a vehicle that was almost 90k. None of my germans cars cost that much and not one of them ever required trips to the dealer other than the scheduled service. That list encompasses Benz C280, C320, E350, E350, BMW 325, Audi S6 and Audi SQ5. Making multiple trips to the dealer because it has a warranty is totally inconvenient and ends up with your car being there the whole day or longer. The tech that is in the vehicle is impressive but needs to be perfected so the user is not a beta tester. This isn't a 35k or 40k Ford its almost a 90k Lincoln and there should be a quality difference and execution should be flawless. Having said that I will ride this out for 10 years(assuming reliability is there) as I purchased it, have the extended warranty and the depreciation would kill any trade in. My next car will be back to the German's, as my kids countryballs meme says, America-maker of inferior cars. True we still don't stack up in the luxury market in the execution arena.
  10. One of the cool features of the GT speedometer was that the needle and and at the end of the indicator would be green while driving on electric. I noticed after a software update for the recall that's gone and its always the amber color. Anyone else notice that subtle change. I thought that feature was cool and my daughter would always notice (early back seat-driver) when we were driving and it was just on electric by the fact the speedometer needle was green. Anyone else with GT notice that change?
  11. How the heck do you get the speed to display in the middle of the display vs on the end of the pointer. I got into the car and yesterday to my surprise I had the speed in the middle of the display with the speed limit of the road displayed right next to it as a road sign just like on the HUD. I was like wow I love this in lieu fo the speed showing up at the end of the pointer. I thought it was a software update and it was an added feature as I asked about that when I bought my vehicle and was told it didn't have that capability. My old Audi had the ability to have the digital speed right in the middle of the screen. Lo and behold I come back to car today and its gone. Can't figure out how it came on. I took two pictures yesterday that shows the difference. The first doesn't show the speed limit sign but it showed up when I was driving, the 2nd is the way it normally is 99.9% of the time. Does anyone know how to get the display in picture one to be the permanent display, the manual had zippo on it? The HUD was on in both instances, nothing was touched other than staring the vehicle.
  12. Picked up the car and they repainted the door but I couldn't really inspect it as en epic thunderstorm was on site at the time but will take a picture tomorrow and upload. Good thing my film guy will reapply the ceramic coat on my door for no charge.
  13. I just had this same sound yesterday during a drive to the ice cream shop and it rained out briefly and then gurgling sound from right side in same location.
  14. Ok, I wasn't sure how they would fix it since they said they took pictures of this and sent it to Lincoln. That made me think it wasn't just a paint in body shop fix.
  15. I decided to post this as separate thread. A new item is a paint problem where at the front of the rear passenger door right where it lines up with the front door the paint looked like it was touched up and coated over. At first glance I thought it was my paint protection film partially peeled back when I realized I didn't put paint protection film on the doors. My wife noticed it and since its pristine white and you don't see it right away. My Xpel film guy said this looks like post factory shipping company repair or during q/c they attempted to fix it and repair it. Dealer took pictures and sent to Lincoln. I just don't want problems with that paint peeling back or the clear coat wearing off because it was done somewhat poorly and I see what looks like bear metal exposed in there (the silver color). See pic below. Should I insist on a new door? What would you do?
  16. Ok an update to this. Had to go to dealer for the rear seat rattle and replacement of the glove box. The rear seat rattle (passenger side 2nd row) turned out to be a loose bracket which they tightened down. In videoing the noise, so I didn't get the "We cant replicate it", I noticed when the aviator goes over rougher pavement (not just a big pothole) the 2nd row captains chairs exhibit a lot of vibration where the head rest almost looks like a tuning fork when you bang it (not sound but the visible vibration). In my mind those seats are not very vibration isolated. Call me crazy ,but I'm thinking how submarines use larger rubber vibration isolating pieces to prevent machinery noise and vibration from hitting the hall. Yes I get it a $2b sub vs a $87k dollar SUV. I just keep thinking over time if that's what I see on the seat from the outside on the inside in the guts over time I hope it doesn't loosen crap up. Let me know when you go over rougher pavement if you all notice in your rear view mirror the tops of the 2nd row seats visibly vibrating like that. The glovebox leather was bubbled (almost like a pimple) so they replaced it which was nice. No bitching about that from them. 17. Wow, mine works fine and I actually use it a lot since you can't lock it by touching the door handle. I miss my old audi's ability to lock the car by touching the door handle, because with the keypad you have to hit the spot dead on. My wife's minivan has the same feature just touch the door handle and it will lock. You don't have to be so precise like you do with this keypad.
  18. This one can accordion up if you want as well. Yep the lincoln one seemed a bit pricey for the quality.
  19. I thought I would share a cool trunk organizer I bought on Amazon. Its well made and doesn't move and I have it sitting on my old trunk liner from my Audit SQ5. So excuse the fact that the trunk liner is short, waiting for my new one to come. You can set it up in multiple configurations. I set it up for 3 and the size handles hook nicely on the Aviator hooks on the left and right side of the trunk. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RQK1J95/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  20. Something to consider we first got the whiplash backing out from garage, hmmm, but I recall we were going super duper slow as it was one of the first few times backing out and I was being careful to see how much clearance and getting used to rearview camera view, etc. Cool scoop hopefully those pics gave you the perspective you want, if not let me know what kind of shot you want.
  21. I immediately thought of a cell phone rig to do this. A bit involved, but I might I have to do it if the lane keep assist really begins to bother me. I agree on the software but I also see their point as when they test it they see no problem. I can appreciate I'm sure some customers come in with issues that never can be corroborated. I will have to set up a cell phone from behind and I'm hoping the camera will pick up the heads up display to show this. The precision to do this and see the road to show the car is veering off the road is gonna be a PITA so I have to make up mind if I want to do this. I turned the rear assist back on and will see if this happens again because they said they did a self test on that as well. Does anyone have a TSB or something that references a software fix for this so I can show them? As for running boards here are some pics I just took. The Mrs is happy and my daughter is as well. I mentioned the dirty pants scenario which is for someone of my height 6', I will likely step over them getting out and the back of your pants will rub the running board so in the winter you will pick up all the dir and crap thats on running board. Having taken so many uber rides with colleagues in the large suv's, you get out and if you don't use the running board and step down your slacks catch the running board and you end up with dirt on them. Yeah I know before all the jokes, soft management boys I know but this shit happens and you see guys come into meeting with the back of their slacks all shitted up and its funny, everyone is like you ubered in a suv didn't you. Yeah first world problems I know but just sharing the truth. So I will have to get used to step on it getting out even though I don't need it. On a navigator you are up so much higher you instinctively step on it as I found during test driving that. This is lower so its not instinctive to step on it getting out. Getting in yeah you step on it. Can't explain it but you just do.
  22. Ok, here was my results from the dealer. 1. dealer found no issues with lane assist. Said they took for test drive. Of course on my way home the drift to the left wasn't being corrected consistently even with the green bars showing. When using lane centering it worked. So conclusion I have is it will be a PITA in this to get them to see it so I know not to rely on it. They didn't calibrate my camera because no fault code and no problem with self test. 2. They fixed the ceiling speaker because it was obvious. 3. The loose trim was fixed. 4. Rear hatch now opens with foot. 5. They didn't acknowledge a software fix for the rear brake assist/cross assist or whatever you call it when the sensor thinks a car is coming from either side when reversing and you get jerking braking from a bush on the side of the driveway. I just turned that off. If there is a TSB for this please let me know. 6. Installed running boards and like them. So my sense is the lane assist and the advanced cruise control even when set at the maximum distance in stop and go traffic isn't reliable when at higher speeds and then you come on traffic that is stopped at a red light. Even on way home a couple of times it wasn't going to stop. How do you show them that really because It doesn't fail every time but enough that I will never rely on it solely. A couple of times my wife was like what are you doing, meaning her instinct was kicking when the car wasn't slowing and I had not begun override braking yet. This with the maximum distance set for spacing between cars so the car should begin slowing earlier than if you set it to the minimum distance. I will say Audi and Benz have this wired and it sounds like some of your vehicles work flawlessly as well. Mine doesn't so its gonna be like getting something to rattle when the dealer is driving it. I like the vehicle but am disappointed that these two very important safety features are dangerously quirky for me. I will remove the danger by not relying on them. Yes we are not supposed to rely on them solely, but when I might need them its a bit disconcerting that they may not work at that moment. I may decide to go to a closer dealer as the Black Label dealer is 40 miles away and non black label Lincoln dealer is 10 miles away.
