  1. I have a 2021 Lincoln Corsair on order. Lincoln has a similar website. According to my dealer, it is scheduled to build the week of September 6. The Lincoln website shows my order is confirmed. It doesn't show the scheduled build date. My understanding is it won't show up until the week prior to the build at the earliest. This chip crisis has everything in flux.
  2. This will cost Toyota an estimated 580,000 units globally in September. Everything I've read suggests the microchip supply will start improving next year but won't fully meet demand until 2023.
  3. If you have your order number and VIN number, you can go to the Lincoln vehicle order tracking site to check the status. Your dealer can provide the order number and VIN number and perhaps even tell you if your vehicle has been scheduled. I ordered a Corsair Grand Touring on July 5. According to my dealer it is to be built the week of September 6. The website shows my order has been secured and shows the VIN but it doesn't show any other status. My understanding is it won't update until just prior to the build. https://shop.lincoln.com/vehicle-order-tracking#/status
  4. I believe most manufacturers would not do this as the automotive industry is very competitive. Manufacturers consider their processes proprietary and wouldn't want photos of the processes getting into a competitor's hands. I work for a supplier and am in an automotive plant every day. Last year, a truck driver snapped a photo with his cell phone of shrouded new model vehicles being loaded onto a truck and sent it to his supervisor to show why he was being detained and would be late for his next pick up. The way the vehicles were shrouded you couldn't even tell what they were. Someone saw him take the photo and his credentials to get on the plant grounds were revoked.
  5. I'm curious if anyone has ordered and received a Grand Touring yet. Also, has anyone driven a Grand Touring model? The only Corsair I've driven had AWD and 2.0L engine. I was impressed enough by it I wanted to purchase it on the spot.
  6. I have a Lincoln Nautilus Reserve with AWD and 2.7L engine. In my every day driving and on a long highway trip I tried out using 93 octane for a month. I didn't see any improvement in performance or gas mileage. Save your $ and use regular.
  7. I see they added the Flight Theme to the Black Label interior. I'm guessing there was a lot of pushback only offering the Alpine (white) theme in 2021.
  8. It appears the original Ford use for Skyliner referred to the retractable hardtop as it was used on both the Galaxie and Fairlane 500 between 1957 - 1959.
  9. Interesting Ford is increasing delivery charges on some models by $100. I read recently Ford has been served a lawsuit over delivery charges because they charge more for the delivery than the carriers charge.
  10. I have decided to forgo installing a charging station in my home. It just doesn't make economic sense especially since I'm retiring at the end of this year and probably won't remain in this home after a few years. I have an available unused dryer 32A 240V circuit just inside the door from my garage. I'll get a licensed electrician to run a circuit about 4 feet to my garage and install the NEMA 6-20R outlet. Then I can use the Lincoln charging cord with the 240V adapter. I don't believe I will need to have any permits but the electrician will know if I do.
  11. Please let me know the status of the following vehicle: VEHICLE DETAILS Ordered: 7/5/2021 Order Number: D800 VIN: 5LMTJ5DZ2MUL23635 I appreciate your time and willingness to do this.
  12. Thank you. It says it has a 240V adapter. I'm curious as what that plug looks like. That's the biggest piece of the puzzle as I need that to have the proper outlet installed.
  13. I will definitely have an electrician come out to check the current wiring from the old laundry room. I definitly don't want to create a fire hazard situation. I have a few months to get this done as I won't receive my vehicle until late September. I have a 120V outlet in the garage currently. It is GFI and actually is a shared circuit with an outlet that is outside the house so I don't think this would be a good option for charging. I've been frustrated trying to find information on the supplied charging cable that comes with the vehicle. My dealer didn't even know the charging cable was 120V/220V capable.
  14. As much as I love my Nautilus, it loves the gas pumps. I have the reserve with AWD and 2.7L engine. The gas mileage is around 18 - 18.5 in the city and 22 - 23 on the highway even using cruise control. Also, my Nautilus is currently worth as a trade in nearly what I paid for it in March 2020 and has 11,000 more miles on it than when I purchased it. I ordered the Corsair Grand Touring which is a PHEV. Most of my driving is in the city so I should be able to run my errands on all electric power. When I take long trips, the estimated MPG is 33 combined city/highway. I configured my Corsair exactly the same as my Nautilus with the exception of the engine and transmission. The Grand Touring has AWD standard, 2.5L Atkison cycle engine and 14.4 KWh battery pack with an estimated 28 miles all electric. The transmission is an electronic CVT. There is no transaxle to the rear wheels. Instead, there is an electric motor to drive the rear wheels that is unique to the Corsair.
  15. I get frustrated with the Lincoln website. There is so little detailed information about charging their PHEVs. Until this discussion, all I knew was there was a charging cable included that could be plugged into a 120V outlet. Now, I know it can also be plugged into a properly wired 240V outlet. All I will need to do is have an electrician come to my home and run wiring for a new outlet and not have to worry about purchasing a charging station. That's a huge cost savings. Even my dealer was unaware of the capability of plugging into a 240V outlet. I appreciate all the sage advice from you folks!
  16. According to my dealer, using the cord at 120V which is standard in most garages will produce a charge time of ~10 hours vs. 3 - 4 hours at 220V. I didn't realize the charge cable included can be used with either voltage. It may be smarter to just get the 220V outlet installed.
  17. I'm curious if anyone who has a Grand Touring Aviator or Grand Touring Corsair has had a charging station installed in their garage. What brand did you choose and why? Did you have to pull a new line to your garage or was there existing wiring that sufficed? I'm considering the Pulsar Plus Wallbox or Chargepoint. There are pros and cons to each. My Lincoln dealer put me in touch with Webasto as they have a nationwide contractor that does the installation for a set fee. The problem I have is they do not have inventory of their chargers. I'd be curious about anyone's experience with Webasto chargers and installation.
  18. The pandemic has upended practically every business and their standard practices from months long shutdowns to the riptides of supply chain issues. It is a good time to reevaluate as things are still on semi-pause. This gives businesses a chance to change their business models and adjust them on the fly without having to completely pause everything and upset their customers more. In March 2020, I found a 2019 CPO Lincoln Nautilus as a dealership 90 miles from my home. It was perfectly configured for me and the price was right. Most of the deal was conducted via text message with my salesman. After agreeing that I would purchase the vehicle based upon a test drive, the dealer agreed to deliver the vehicle to my home. I test drove it and agreed to purchase it. All the paperwork was signed in my driveway. In July, I had the Nautilus in for service and noticed a really nice Corsair and asked to test drive it. I liked the vehicle and wanted to purchase it. However, due to very low inventory, the dealership wasn't allowing Z plan discounts on their stock inventory. I was told in order to get the discount I had to order one. So, on July 5 I did just that. I have it configured exactly the way I want. The plant that produces the Corsair was on shutdown due to microchips and didn't resume production until July 19. I received word this week that my vehicle has a build schedule of the week of September 6. According to my salesman, I should have it by the end of September.
  19. My 2019 Lincoln Nautilus is equipped with adaptive steering and adaptive cruise control. In city driving it isn't much of a benefit. The true benefit is when you're out on the highway and especially on long trips. Adaptive steering and adaptive cruise control take a lot of the fatigue out of driving on long trips. It senses the curves in the highway and gently guides you in that direction. You can easily override the direction. I don't think I will ever own another vehicle without this feature.
  20. Thanks for posting this. Ironically, I ordered a Corsair Grand Touring I on July 5. According to my inside sources at LAP where the Corsair is produced they won't be resuming production until July 19. Any idea if they will be immediately producing the Corsair Grand Touring or will that be delayed a few weeks?
  21. Thanks for all the information. You've been most helpful. I know enough that I'm not qualified to do this myself. I'll get a licensed electrician as there could also be permits required.
  22. Thanks for the info. This will help me when I contact an electrician to do the work. I got one quote online that was US$2000 and thought that was extreme. Maybe it was and maybe it wasn't.
  23. OK, so we appear to have several electrical smarter people than me. The Wallbox charger I am considering would have a draw of 16A up to 40A. From my research I think that means I should have a 50A breaker if I want to achieve the maximum capacity of the charger. https://smile.amazon.com/Pulsar-Level-Electric-Vehicle-Charger/dp/B08H2LYFHX/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=3BvdD&pf_rd_p=38316967-9a6c-4cf3-acd3-6269fd389669&pf_rd_r=MQDFSR1W6RVZ2PJ7B8R4&pd_rd_r=fb380dac-0d0e-4ef0-8946-759f28ad74ae&pd_rd_wg=Z03eC&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_d Does this mean I need to have a new line ran from the breaker box to the garage? The current 32A outlet is about 2 feet inside the door to the garage.
  24. I live in Ohio. The circuit in question is for an electric dryer. The house was constructed in 1997. I've attached photos of the outlet and my breaker box. The breaker is the first one on the upper left. It is marked "32" on the switch so I am assuming this means 32A. I'm no electrician so I could very well be wrong.
  25. I have a unique set up in my house. There is a mudroom just inside the door from the house to the garage that has an optional laundry room. There is a 240V 32A circuit about 2 feet from the garage wall. I'm thinking if I find it necessary I can have the circuit upgraded to 40A or 50A and have an outlet installed in the garage wall at a much smaller cost than running an entirely new circuit. I'm also trying to decide between Webasto (Ford's chosen supplier), Juicebox or Wallbox for a Level 2 charger. Webasto has 16A or 32A chargers but only the 16A in stock. I've read quite a few reviews from Juicebox stating they had to have 2 or even 3 chargers due to failure of connecting to WIFI. I don't see these complaints with Wallbox and I kind of like the small profile of the charger itself. Does anyone have their recommendations for Level 2 chargers? At this point, I'm just shopping around. I won't receive my Corsair for a few months as I just ordered it July 5 and the plant that produces it won't resume production until July 19 after a 2 month shutdown.
