  1. Do you have any insight about Oakville job 1 for 2021 Edge/Nautilus starting Jan 25? Could Ford be keeping something hush-hush until contract talks are over? 3 weeks of downtime usually means retooling for something new...
  2. Sorry, to clarify - CDX777 was the cancelled CD6 project? And the "dusted off" C2 Project was(is) to be CDX706/707?
  3. Did Ford change model codes when they cancelled the CD6 project? AFAIK the Edge/Nautilus had model codes of CDX706/707 The AFS Blogger claims that the model code cancelled was CDX777
  4. I always thought that the Edge target market was suburbanites / empty nesters who preferred style/comfort/tech over ruggedness/off-road worthiness
  5. Could Ford move the Nautilus to RWD-based CD6 for FRAP considering the new Mustang is supposed to ride on the same platform? And then have Oakville build C2-based Edge and Fusion Active? Or is the Fusion active going to be an import from Europe?
  6. My opinion Ford is going to push the Fed/Provincial government for money and tax breaks, and ask the workers for concessions. Probably bring back 2 tier, or have 20-30% of the plant workforce as permanent "temps" and likely a wage freeze for 4 years. Ford will need a flexible workforce due to the pandemic and will want some agreement with Unifor to be able to bring in and remove workers as necessary to facilitate higher/lower production volumes. The Canadian government at both levels should be willing to give out money/tax breaks/electricity rebates because of the Coronavirus, and Unifor will agree to Fords proposal stating the need to be more competitive to relative to the US plants.
  7. Never heard anything about that, can you elaborate bit? How costly/time consuming is it to migrate from the CD4 to C2 platform? My understanding is Ford wants all of their plants on one of five platforms. The Edge/Naut still sits on CD4 so that will have to change, correct? My understanding was that the new Mustang was going to CD6 around 2025, along with a RWD Lincoln coupe to replace the Continental. What about this $900m going into Ohio for a "mystery product" coming 2023?
  8. Oakville is a flex plant, the Flex/MKT ran on the D4 platform and the Edge runs on the CD4 platform. If Oakville is going to survive I imagine we will have to upgrade to the C2 or CD6 platform eventually no? edit: by eventually I mean within the next 2-3 years
