My 2020 Explorer Platinum has chrome plating separation on both front door window switch assemblies. The plating is sharp like a razors edge to touch and sticking straight up. I assume plating plastic is difficult but this failure is unacceptable at 3700 miles. I’ll be returning to the dealership again. This vehicle has already required more trips for repairs then my last 5 Explorers combined. Last new one for me.

Update, picked up my Platinum Explorer today. After two days of troubleshooting, the problem was a bad sensor on the front bumper outboard position. Ford Engineering stepped in and helped them through the pin out inspection ultimately identifying the bad part. They also flashed modules as required. Fingers crossed this will be my only electronic issue and hopefully my only service issue going forward. I love this car!

I can be patient. Parking sensors at least have a simple on-off switch on the center console. I’m training myself to shut them off every startup for the time being. If you have to have a problem with a new car this one isn’t so bad. Thanks to Flying68 and YT90SC for the thoughtful answers!

My guess too. Contacted Ford Customer Relationship Center by mail. Waiting to hear back. My dealership service department won’t investigate the issue by doing any real troubleshooting. Just scan codes and punt!

Sensors perfectly clean and no scratches.

My local dealer is telling me “Ford Engineering is working on this problem”. That answer does not make sense. I’m looking for other owners who may have experienced or are experiencing this issue. An annoying error message pops up on the 12” LCD dash panel and a different error screen pops up on the center console tablet. This happens randomly and often. There are no tones when you approach an object at the front, just the blocked sensor error message. Everyone on this forum knows how much this vehicle costs. I need a plan to get this Explorer repaired and I’m reaching out for suggestions.
