  1. stevenc, The Fox 2.0’s were money well spent to control your suspension and I’m a fan. That being said the harshness and “bone jarring” ride is mostly a result of rock hard tires - fully aired up tires with an empty truck - thanks to the mandated TPMS. Ford had a service bulletin years ago addressing this. There are several methods to determine correct psi for a given load on the tire and maximum psi isn’t it! Look into it, I promise it’s a game changer. My 2022 F350 6.7 has excellent ride quality and gets compliments from passengers.
  2. I went with Rex Gen flaps for my lifted F350 with 37’s. Expensive but they have a unique no-drill mounting system that allows a lot of variance in how you choose to position them. They also have a setback for clearance while turning. Even so, I’m not sure they will clear 37’s with just a leveling kit. on my two classic Fords I’m a huge fan of Dura Flap. A classic look and great customer service.
  3. Hum, this might not be the best place for that kind of rant. I’m sorry you’re disappointed but I can say I’ve had the exact opposite experience. I literately love my 22 F350 with the 6.7. It just hit 17k miles. I want everything to be perfect as well but also realize vehicles are mass produced, vendors change, etc. As far as your ride quality and handling, tire pressure is absolutely the key here. Nothing rides nice, empty, with 80 psi. As a retired Dealer tech (GM, Dodge, and Ford) of 27 years I’ll tell you even Ford has stated that. Dodge used to list two tire psi specs for max GVWR and “Lightly Loaded.” The problem is the federally mandated tire pressure sensor systems force you to run around with rock hard tires. If you haven’t already, look into Forscan. It is worth it even if all you do is reset your tire psi thresholds. I religiously use my engine heater below 32 degrees (it’s on a timer) because I don’t like starting cold engines. As far as everything else…I’ve ran into unhappy owners of every brand.
  4. Took the 22 F350 6.7 in for the 15k service and two recalls. At the end of the three hour visit was told the reprogram of the Integrated Trailer Relay Module (Recall 22S17) could not complete due to a loss of communication. The truck is rescheduled for a 4-6 hour complete vehicle reprogramming. Anyone else experienced this or have current service insight?

  6. Thanks guys. I had the bumper on the shelf from the ‘22 F350 Lariat anyway and it gave me fog lights and tow hooks for the ‘96. I did have fun posting this after Jambin13 asked about the gap seal because I remember at the time I did the install being very pleased to be able to retain that part!
  7. Strangely enough, it appears Ford used that same part on the ‘96 Eddie Bauer.
  8. I don’t think crazy people (i.e. probably everyone here) can identify other crazy people, so your wife is probably right. That being said, heck yes, no question you should go! I totally lucked out in my case and by chance happened to see the transport coming into town. I followed it to the dealership and watched it get off loaded. It was great!
  9. It’s been very helpful to show my girlfriend other examples of guy’s spending thousands of dollars to upgrade brand new trucks (some that haven’t even arrived yet). It bolsters my argument this is “normal “ behavior!
  10. I went with the new style WeatherTech as well and really like them. They are more of a matte finish, fit well, and are not slippery. Of course I keep a towel on them because I don’t like getting even my floor mats dirty!
  11. I agree with everything you just said. I believe if can be armed you should be and if you choose to arm yourself then practice and prepare yourself mentally for possible situations.
  12. Sounds like you handled that appropriately and I appreciate that. I also know most people are responsible and reasonable and do similarly as you did. I did have a traffic stop once and made a passenger side approach. The driver had a console mounted holster and about the time I noticed it he quickly grabbed the pistol to place it in the glove box. Yes, my anxiety level bumped up a notch! My thought and preference is, if you are not a threat to the officer, then the officer does not need to know you are carrying. It’s just one more thing for the officer to have to deal with or be concerned with. That changes of course if the officer asks you to do something that would potentially reveal your weapon. At that time you could say something like what you did above and let the officer direct you from there. I guess my point is all of those options go out the window if you are carrying any other way than on-body, concealed. I can understand why folks carry this way but I won’t do it myself. Too many pro’s for concealed carry and I only see potential problems with any kind of off-body. Just my two cents and to each his own.
  13. Well Gharri30 it appears we now have an appropriate thread to continue our earlier conversation. I wanted to ask you how you deal with a traffic stop with this set-up, assuming of course that you have had one?
  14. And that’s what a well researched truck build looks like. Excellent work and thanks for posting the follow up pics. PS - I’m jealous of your suspension setup. I’ll bet it drives amazing off road.
  15. Ok that was hilarious and made my morning. I immediately sent it to my girlfriend and she now wants them for “her side.” And thanks for getting back to me Gharri30 on the off-topic thing. Would like to talk further but would have to be its own thread I suppose.
  16. Hello Gharri30, I am hoping to hear your thoughts on this and maybe others as well. I’m a huge advocate for personal protection and concealed carry. I’m generally not such a fan of off-body carry, which this is, for many reasons. So how does this set up work for you? Do you transition to a concealed carry holster when you get out of the truck or does the pistol stay in the truck? And vise versa, do you have to un-holster every time you go to get in your truck? Wouldn’t it be better to just carry concealed and always be armed? Please don’t take offense at my questions, I genuinely want to know the thought process here. Also sorry if this was a hijack of the thread.
  17. I think I’m way past the “to level or not to level”arguments here. That being said I agree with danielj, make the truck your own, or not, and be happy with it. The leveled black beauty with the Westin grill guard (and obviously oe bumper) looks fantastic in my book but if it’s not for you, that’s fine too. My truck is almost to the point I had planned for it when I placed the order and in my mind does everything I want it to do. Is it everyone’s flavor? No, but it’s also what makes it unique to me. I also can’t leave my Harley Davidson alone. That’s a whole other story but the same idea. The Bronco in the background is one I just hauled up to Missoula for a friend. 1,200 miles and a seized engine. Leveled or not, it’s not going anywhere for awhile. Peace out everyone and continue enjoying these great trucks.
  18. Good choice going with the replacement leaf springs. In hindsight it is the route I should have taken. I will be curious how that works out for you. In the meantime I’ve spent so much time fabricating/modifying my air bag mounts, so the air spring can lift off of the seat, I don’t want to change anything now. Definitely look into the Forscan thing. It’s a huge benefit to have on these trucks. For example, being able to adjust my tire pressure settings was a game changer. And yes, decisions, decisions! I made two separate changes on mine after the order. I feel your pain haha
  19. It’s the 4”BDS. The ride and handling is great however there are a few issues to be aware of. BDS went with a 4.5 inch flat rear axle block. This was a no go, at least for me, and will be for you too if your truck has a one piece rear prop shaft. Flat blocks are for a two-piece prop shaft where you can adjust pinion angles with the center support bearing. I ended up with excessive pinion angle, launch shudder, prop shaft vibration at speed, and too little slip yoke spline engagement. Anyway after a tech support case they sent a 5” tapered block which solved the above issues. I won’t bore you with all the technical details but have them if you want. The other note is deviate from the instructions if you are using their radius arms and put the axle in the “rotated forward “ position (less positive castor). You will have a much better front pinion angle, still have 2.5 degrees of positive castor, and the factory castor spilt of 0.5 degrees will be sufficient to compensate for road crown. I would have went with Toyo AT3’s but they were unobtainable. All of the programming has been with Forscan. Good luck getting your truck and then with your build. Expensive toys to be sure. Do you have an eta?
  20. Well FirstFord if you decide to go with a 4 inch lift this is what she will look like. The tires are 37” Nitto Trail Grappler’s which just replaced the 35” Toto MT’s I was running. A trip to Bend and back convinced me I didn’t like the hum of the Mud terrains. The Nitto’s are smooth and quiet. This morning I reconfigured the BCM for the new tire diameter and it came out perfect. Speedo/odo/ shift points right on the money. Tomorrow I pick up my Buckstop front bumper. Then I have to order the matching rear, then a winch and lights for the bumpers, and etc, etc. Just warning everyone on this particular thread that once you start it’s a slippery slope!
  21. Well fair enough but at least it’s Bend and not Portland. Plus if you give them a call they can advise you of any retailers in your area. In my case it was a high volume dealer in Kalispell which significantly reduced the estimated 16-18 week delivery time. https://www.buckstopinc.com/
  22. I’ve always liked WeatherGuard for a cross bed box and this new version is even a little better. The tonneau cover is the Access toolbox edition. It’s a perfect setup for my needs. I didn’t want the toolbox under the bed cover because I’m in and out of it so much.
  23. So I really wanted to go full Ranch Hand when I ordered my 22 F350 SCLB 6.7 April last year. In fact, I ordered the truck sans running boards and ordered the Ranch Hand 6 step nerf bars. Well the truck delivered in September and still no Ranch Hand. I had to then order factory boards because it was all I could get on a next day basis. Fine. I still wanted the Ranch Hand Midnight front bumper but when I called them they advised the winch plate was still in development with no eta and there was no matching rear bumper for it. I still think they are a great company with a good product I just couldn’t make it happen. Oh but the steps did show up just this week. I brought them home, even though didn’t really need them now, and the are for a CCLB. Really? After about 10 months? Anyway after a ton of research I went with Buckstop out of Bend, Oregon. Should be here any day and they have a matching rear. Sorry for the long winded rant. Maybe at least check out Buckstop and see what you think.
  24. On my 2011 it was necessary to inflate the tires to the max psi shown on the tire loading label and then drive it a couple of times before the warning message would go off. Just airing them up into the acceptable range didn’t do it. They had to be at max psi. Once it went off I would lower the psi to a more reasonable level. Give it a try, I’m pretty sure it will work for you.
  25. Good choice on the wheels. I went with them because they were rated the heaviest in an 18 inch at close to zero offset. The Method HD’s are a plus 18 offset unless you go with a 17 inch wheel like Carli recommends. Mine are a plus 3 offset and it puts them just at the outside of the wheel well opening. They are a little busy but I always detail with a pressure washer so not a problem. Tires are currently 35’s because of a good deal on them but will run 37’s when these run out. Please post pics when you’re truck is here and all set up.
