  1. My IT guy just stopped laughing.....as a registered "White Hat", he knows his way around things - not only is it going to be possible, it already is on several different levels. In his words, "If it connects, it can be hacked."
  2. My business IT guy is shaking his head over all this. He points out that NASA - nor NSA - has been 100% successful in stopping hackers, who crack systems just to say they did. Now, give someone an axe to grind - or terroristic tendencies - and this could turn into a nightmare no one can imagine. His opinion is it isn't "if" - it's "WHEN". And as already noted...people puking, boarding sick - even just the run-of-the-mill vandalism....I don't think it's going to end well, but we'll see.
  3. A good scan tool is your friend. An experienced mechanic is your bosom buddy.....
  4. Congrats! Although I might comment that the general rule is that you haven't REALLY taken delivery until you've posted a pic here...lol I don't worry about the mileage, personally - my wife lived in Germany for 9 years and drove some fairly hot performance cars - she gutted the front drive train on her Pontiac GTP three times with her lead foot.? Enjoy!!
  5. Thanks in large part to you and our sales person! I come from a long line of practical jokers, so I've learned how to "shine on" someone from some real pros....lol The tracking I was able to do with your input allowed me to be prepared in case the car came earlier than the order tracker said, so I was able to "prime" the story a few days early with her.... I'm an avid 1911 collector, and more than once she's prodded me to buy a few fairly expensive pieces she knew I really wanted - so I spoil her when I can! Again - thanks for EVERYTHING you do!!
  6. Well, @cyberdman - it showed up yesterday morning. With a bit of plotting, managed to get the wife to the dealership on a ruse yesterday afternoon and presented her with her new ride as a surprise....lol She's in absolute LOVE with the color - closest thing to maroon for her Texas Aggie heart I've seen in a while. Many thanks for all your help and patience!!
  7. LOL - my bad! A customer I was talking w/on the phone just before I left the office.......sorry 'bout that!
  8. Good morning sir! Any update on ETA/location? Order Number: 2231 VIN: 5LM5J9XC3NGL05068
  9. Maybe it's been covered....but as a non-EV owner, what is going to happen when we need a rental? We have an Aviator and a Ram 3500 CC 4x4 - when then wife was rear ended a while back, I absolutely rejected the sedan they tried to put us in. But more importantly - we aren't set up in ANY fashion to recharge a vehicle here.....and the vast majority of the country is in the same boat. I have a feeling some of the other rental fleets are already making marketing plans to point that out.
  10. The whole "climate change" issue is being massaged by the folks after one thing....control. We talk about the "increasing temperatures" while a few years ago, they were claiming another Ice Age. This planet is going to evolve through means far outside our control - one volcanic eruption negates the cumulative effects of 20 years of "clean" energy (at the least). Windmills? How long does it take a windmill producing to offset the assets and pollution created by the manufacturing process to create it, then develop the site and install it? And THAT doesn't happen in a vacuum - there's the loss of agricultural usage, the negating of the land's ability to be used for housing - and the wildlife killed by those big blades striking flying birds (which happens a LOT more often than they'll tell you). Now, let's talk about the lubrication each of those windmills have that require replacement annually. Oh - and let's not forget the blades on those monsters, made from a non-recyclable material that requires disposal in a landfill....material that will never biodegrade. Each blade has a finite service life, then must be replaced. Solar cells? Dear Sweet Baby Jesus, THAT is a pipe dream that's been chased for over 40 years....and it's still a ponzi scheme of epic proportions. When you run the numbers, even the major utilities have to admit (through the higher rates for solar-produced power) that there IS no return on the "investment" - and you have nada if there's no sunshine. Average productive lifespan of 20 years....then more for the landfill...and more expensive mining/refining/manufacturing to make the replacements. And what the blazes are the power grids going to do with all the power draw requirements for these EV's on grids that are already running near their maximum load capacity? And the BIG gorilla in the middle of the room.....just how are they going to make all that additional electricity that's going to be needed......
  11. Order Number: 2231 VIN: 5LM5J9XC3NGL05068 Anything new? The order tracker says bulit/shipped.....any way of knowing where it might be? If I'm reading it right, it's being trucked in - which usually is just a matter of days from Chicago to New Braunfels, TX. Thanks!!
  12. IIRC, they didn't start any builds until late summer. Have you provided the order number and VIN to the guys here to see what they can tell you? Based ONLY on what I've seen here, it sounds to me like it's actually been shipped, and is in transit.
  13. Unfortunately, no one's going to address that issue until we're way too far down the road to turn around, I'm afraid. At that point, it's going to be a true cluster-#!!)
  14. He's brought this "issue" up multiple times. I get it that he's upset about it - but at some point, it's time to move on and let the insurance company settle things out. And I meant exactly what I said - I wasn't trying to be rude to the man, but he's putting this up as more of a "I'm gonna make you regret this" move, IMO. For example - those remaining gaps SHOULD be corrected by the dealer or repair facility - not the owner. They'll have a better idea how to correct it in such a way as to minimize the chance of a recurring issue. Butyl is a poor choice for that IMO. But I can assure you that I'd be having the repair facility fix it, because if it doesn't work, now they can say it's on him.
  15. With all due respect...you said you were "over" this a while back - you've now posted exacting details on at least two forums. Maybe you'd be better served selling it and buying something else....or putting on your Big Boy britches and moving on.
  16. That overstated grill on current models is what made Lexus be taken off our "short list" when we were looking this summer (when the better half gets a new car, I get her to look at everything offered on the market, so she doesn't have regrets....lol). We both found the front end hideous on the '21 models - someone obviously decided to WhataSize it.....
  17. Was at a customer's house earlier this week - new build. He and his wife drive Tesla's and after reviewing the charging requirements, they upped his service from a 200 amp to a 400 amp....ouch! All I can think of is the additional load that's going to be put on the electrical grid over the next few years - most of the infrastructure wasn't designed for a load increase of 30-40% on existing connections.
  18. If you have access to an ozone generator, try that overnight. Just be careful - ozone is NOT good for you in large doses, so it's generally best to set the machine up, close the doors and THEN plug it in. Once done, unplug it, open all doors from OUTSIDE the vehicle, and allow to "air out" for a few minutes - it disperses quickly. It's often used to negate smoke smell in homes and cars - it's quite effective against most organic-based odors. Best part - if it doesn't work, you will NOT have introduced a new "scent" to the vehicle, since there's absolutely zero residual chemical/odor.
  19. To be fair, the concierge folks can't possibly know all areas of assembly/storage/transport, etc. Sounds to me like you were pushing for answers to questions they had NO way of knowing, and rather than accept it, you pushed it (I can understand why you would), and in frustration they finally just said they couldn't help you. I can understand your repulsion of finding the mice, but as noted by others, there's just no way to prove how it happened, or where. As to the "extra miles".....sorry, but that wouldn't even register with me. Could be that they had to take the car to another rail yard, or once it was delivered locally, they drove it to the dealership, etc. - but for Pete's sake, that's nothing in the anticipated mileage of the vehicle. We just have to accept that there's some things there aren't answers for, correct the issue - and move on. We're replacing a18 month old, $68k 2019 Aviator Reserve II because it's been a nightmare of ghost problems electrically. I could have chosen to pound on desks, raised my blood pressure and had hissy fits all over the dealership....or simply say "I knew better than buy a 1st-year model" and move on...which we did. We don't even know how bad the costs are going to be yet, but frankly I'm not going to worry over it. The '19 has long been paid for, and I've been setting money aside since we decided to replace it - so whatever the hit is, we'll get over it. Life's too short to get worked up over this stuff. Besides - you could be like a neighbor whose week-old, $120k Mercedes just burned up in a mall parking lot last week with no apparent causation - and so far, Mercedes is telling him "not our problem".
  20. Woot!! Got home, pulled up the page - In Production 10/10, Expected delivery date 11/3 - 2 days before opening weekend.....yeah, she's gonna have to wait!! LOL
  21. Thanks - guess it's better than "Man, you should see what we did to THIS one!!" LOL Have a great week!
  22. I do residential water treatment. You want to see supply chain problems? Underbedding (#20 flint), resin - even the garbage junk we won't normally buy, tanks from every source, pretty much anything made from plastic - it's ALL been affected. At one point, even salt was almost impossible to find. Sometimes, it's the product itself - other times, it's getting it trucked in. This past winter, I drove to Dallas to get a shipment from the UPS hub terminal (thank heavens for friends within UPS), because the shortage of drivers was such that they couldn't get a shipment one of my key vendors needed, so I went up and brought it back for them so I could have what *I* needed. Most don't realize, but when the Texas Gulf Coast got hit with the freeze earlier this year, the resultant plant shut-downs essentially destroyed the plastic resin sources to the point that PVC pipe fitting manufacturers (among many others) put many of their customers on severely limited parts availability so folks couldn't hog it all to themselves.
