  1. How many SDs you see out there that have obvious issues, occurring simultaneously, with: -frame deflection -transmission -suspension -fuel -loose parts The same SDs are likely used by owners that pay no attention or care to towing dynamics. Not to mention the average owner is not a structural or mechanical engineer (and even some of them are clueless number crunchers without application). I abhor the fact that people on these forums don’t accept Ford’s (or any manufacturer) numbers on the sticker and think it’s okay to tow over the limit. Can you sit your 200lb body on your child’s $800 play-mate swing set without the bolts loosening? What about that crib of theirs, can you sit in it and jump in it without expecting the wooden cross members to snap? It’s the same for any vehicle. How many times have you seen a sedan sagging on the road because 3 heavy set people are in the back and whatever luggage is in the trunk? All you do is amplify the issue when you get into big numbers. You know how many RV salesmen will tell you your F250 can pull anything? Most of them trying to sell you a camper. Guess who won’t be there at the shop when your transmission has metal shavings in it and your rear axle’s cross-sectional tube geometry is no longer circular but now oval? Plus your frame is deformed and your 3” lift looks terrible, and then you start posting on threads and Facebook, “What could it be? My CP4 went out, I only tow part of the time, but mostly daily this sucker 18’ F250 6.7L CCSB … PFA” … the guy that sold you the RV, or the guy who told you “you should be fine, I do it all the time no issues” hauling/towing over the vehicles limits… well he won’t be there. But guess what, you’ll be there… with a broken truck not worth it’s rebuilt title, screaming that it’s Ford’s fault and fighting for a warranty claim. Judging by the Ford SD owner community, there are A LOT of owners who are clueless about legal, lawful, and safe hauling/towing practices. Plus, not all owners are honest. Which why (I’m guessing) most of these CP4, transmission, and engine issues occur so frequently, and then some recalls eventually manifest - I’m not kidding about the oval shaped axle; Ford actually had a recall on some 20-21MYs and the solution was welding the frame to the axle ? who bore the costs of senseless owners there? Ford. Ever stop to wonder why Ford is moving toward these onboard scales? ? Better to do the math and educate yourself first before buying an undersized truck to do the job.
  2. I have a 22 Lariat 6.7 as well. It is normal during regen. Crack your window. These trucks are built so well but not perfect, and remember they are more like a piece of heavy equipment than anything. There is a master tech on YouTube that is incredibly knowledgeable, I’m sure he has covered this topic in one of his videos. Check his playlists. https://youtube.com/@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
  3. I would be more prone to believing the Order Guide as well, although the Order Guide doesn’t include a “star” that indicates the standard 2.5” receiver on SRW is new for this model year. I guess I will find out when the truck arrives or on the window sticker.
  4. Everyone check out the towing guide that was just released. It differs from the order guide and with everything I’ve been discussing in my last few posts in this thread. https://www.fleet.ford.com/content/dam/aem_fleet/en_us/fleet/towing-guides/2023_Ford_RVandTrailerTowingGuide_Nov22.pdf
  5. Thank you. My question was about the hitch receiver size for the MY23 F250/350 SRW trims, but yes the order guide for MY17-22 shows the 3” hitch receiver comes with F250 SRW w/ high capacity trailer tow package and F350 4x4 SRW. For MY23 F250/350 SRW, the MY23 order guide dictates 2.5” receiver hitch for all F250/350 SRW trims, except for F350 DRW and F450 DRW. Of course I’m sitting here wondering, why did Ford take away 3” hitch receivers from MYF250/350 SRW? I have a MY22 F250 SRW w/ the high capacity trailer tow package, so my complaint is that I’ll have to buy a new B&W hitch when my MY23 F350 SRW order arrives because my 3” B&W hitch I have now won’t fit the new 2.5” hitch receiver. I don’t HAVE to have a B&W hitch, but they are my preference and not inexpensive. Ford made a bunch of people invest in 3” hitches only to render them obsolete to the truck owner should they upgrade to the MY23.
  6. That is what I gathered as well. Thank you. Looks like I’ll need to get a new 2.5” hitch for the MY23 F350 as the B&W I got for my MY22 F250 is a 3” hitch. I wonder why Ford did that, perhaps engineered controls to make sure people quit exceeding their GVWR/GCWR.
  7. I’ve searched high and low through the 2023 US order guide. Does anyone know what configuration will force a 3” hitch receiver on a 2023 F350 SRW? What I understand is that 2.5” hitch receivers will be standard on all F250/350 SRW trims. BUT the order guide shows that 3” hitch receivers are available on all trims as well, although my fist assumption was that 3” hitch receivers were only going to be available on 350/450 DRW.
  8. Thanks! Just found it in the owners manual too.
  9. Does anyone know what the 4 light looking fixtures are for on the overhead console? They are right near the upfitter switches. I thought they were lights but now I’m not sure??
  10. Go find an honest dealer to work with.
  11. Delivered 1/14 Thank you for your help along the way.
  12. Ordered 7/19 Scheduled 11/18 Built 12/23 Delivered 1/14 Psalm 103
  13. It comes standard with the Lariat Ultimate Package, but not with the Lariat Value Package. I know because I changed my order from the Value to Ultimate.
  14. Morning, May I please get an update for this week? VIN # 1FT8W2BT5NED37942 Thank you and happy new year!
  15. Great truck. Patience is key. Sorry to hear about your previous truck getting stolen. That must have been tough to accept..
  16. What is the part number of the tremor air dam (vallance)? Trying to find it on Fords OEM parts website.
  17. Thanks. It looks great. Gives me confidence about how mine may look in iconic silver. I included the extended running boards too. Truck should be here any day now.
  18. Why are you arguing with me about this? I have to admit, you do seem to know a lot, and do a great job at describing how things are supposed to work from the perspective of a dealer and Ford, as well as assuming I don’t know what I’m talking about (which I don’t appreciate). Ford chooses to go through dealerships, like any other automaker in the industry. Ford has just as much ‘choice’ to lobby otherwise if they would truly love to have more control over dealerships and how things should work. There’s no excuse for existing bad policy on retail orders. Period. And I’m not sure if you’re trying to enforce some community guidelines like Facebook, but you talk like there is something wrong with me and others sharing some real experience on how things aren’t working as they should. From a customer’a perspective who has waited 6 months and counting, I’d say it’s pretty reasonable to tell people that an average 30+ weeks is what they should expect for the entire process. After all, Ford tells us it can take a few days to get built and the average transit time is 12-28 days depending on a number of variables (obvious use of words to save face for when things don’t work out). Thanks for your input though.
  19. Why would VVR information be solely confidential from competitors? Plus, how would a dealer know that who they are selling to isn’t a competitor or isn’t going to share confidential information? I.e., on forums where competitors likely hang out. The disclaimer doesn’t say anything specifically about that, it just says it is Ford Confidential. Not every dealer is intelligent enough or trained to know what the terms of a confidentiality statement are. Some dealers may use that to their advantage, some may not, and others simply have no clue and don’t share information because they truly think it’s confidential. For retail orders, Ford themselves only gives out information on the Primary Status to customers. Speaking from experience, I’ve tried asking for more information several different ways, and Ford has always told me to go to my dealer for more information other than Primary Status. I’m assuming each Ford dealership has to comply with the Terms and Conditions of their agreement with Ford in order to sell products and operate. If a dealer misrepresents Ford, or does not adhere to the Terms and Conditions of their agreement, there could be legal ramifications pursuant anti-defamation laws or breach of contract. It would not surprise me if the Terms and Conditions have some type of indemnification clause that protects Ford from dealers who “do not do their jobs”, because if there wasn’t such clause then it would make Ford look bad and lose business. That’s why Ford allows franchise-type dealerships and does not sell vehicles directly to customers; keeps their hands clean. If it is truly the dealer’s job to share VVR information to Ford customers, don’t you think Ford would have the resources to enforce that expectation? I see a lot of customer complaints on here. It’s aggravating to me, not only to see so many complaints, but to see moderators and those who represent Ford pass much of the responsibility off to dealers and say things like their dealer should be doing a better job at providing customers with more information about their retail order. People come on here not to get the run around, and I don’t expect the information to be 1010% accurate, but it’s clear that there is some protection for Ford on this site (which I completely understand). So, Dealer is protected, Ford is protected, but customers can’t necessarily have their order protected or have guaranteed transparency that should be provided when purchasing a vehicle that costs upwards of $90,000.
  20. People ordering from Ford should know one thing: Information from the Vehicle Visibility Report (VVR) is Ford Confidential. I know this because I’ve seen the disclaimer at the bottom of the VVR screen. If a dealer feels comfortable to share information with you, then they may make the choice to do so. Otherwise, all customers that place an order are as important as the dealer wants to make them. There is a lot of information about hold ups on here, but even the moderators have to tote the line from a liability standpoint. Think about it, why would your dealer or Ford want to make promises they could not guarantee to keep? They’d face hundreds, if not thousands, of small claim lawsuits or even a class action one. Best advice I can give you for the retail order buying experience: expect 30+ weeks of lead time and find yourself a genuine dealer or sales consultant/representative who will take care of you. Otherwise, you could be unimportant to the dealer you work with and the order could get sold from under you just like that. And remember, Ford does not have the resources to ensure every dealer is 100% compliant with representing them - which the moderators on here should understand when telling forum users how their dealer needs to be doing a better job.
  21. cars.com autotrader.com Can’t search the same specifics like Ford’s website allows, but you should still be able to search Trim Level and Fuel Type.
  22. Looks clean. Are those the standard FX4 package LT275/70R18E All Terrain Tires and is that stock stance?
  23. What is the last day of production this week? I was scheduled for 12/14, and my current status is just ‘in production’ per my dealer and ford tracking website. I’m thinking it’s likely my build will ‘pause’ until after the 3 week shutdown.
  24. I was at 17 weeks and 3 days until a VIN # was assigned to my truck. It’s all over the place. Expect a long lead but hope for sooner is all I can say.
