Good morning, I’m coming to you guys from some advice. This is my first vehicle purchase. I know there are some Ford employees here, people with experience purchasing from a dealership and people that have gone through the vehicle ordering process. I have a truck in the shipping stage right now. I have paid $500 just to place the order. But I do not have any thing beyond the order sheet signed only by me. The dealer seams reputable and advertises that they don’t markup vehicles by thousands of dollars, so I’m not necessarily worried about that. My predicament is that the truck is estimated to arrive while I’ll be out of town and completely unreachable. It could be sitting on their lot for up to 14 days before I get back. Getting test driven? Getting offers from desperate buyers? I will have zero cell phone service. I would like to schedule an appointment with my salesperson and the Sales Manager to get something signed by them, or maybe just complete the buying process right now?? Or a deposit that guarantees me the truck? I’ve heard enough horror stories about unknowing or uneducated dealership employees to worry. Will they call me to say it’s ready to be picked up and when I don’t answer for a week or more, just go ahead and sell it to someone else? Any advice on how to secure my truck order until I get back from my trip? Thank you and sorry for the wall of text!

@FarmerWill, what’s the status on your order? Any updates yet? I ordered from a dealer here in NorCal and just this morning got the email saying my truck has been built. They gave me an estimated delivery of May 17 - May 23.

Morning @Lee2021, did you ever get a specific build date or just the build week? I’m guessing you’re wearing out that “Track My Order” button also??

So, 4 days from build date to shipped? That’s quick. I wonder what the average shipping time is, 3 weeks? If I apply those numbers there’s a good chance I’ll be on vacation (with zero cell service!!) when my truck arrives at the dealer….

How many of you boys & girls are scheduled to be built this week?!? My last email from Ford said my build week is the week of April 25th. My salesman said that my build date is the 28th, but didn’t provide any info on how he got that number (VVR, I guess?). 2/1: Ordered 2/3: Confirmation Email 3/7: Sched. Week of 5/2 3/31: Sched. @azfansinnc, I’m scheduled for next week also, 4/28. Similar build, just no BAP or moonroof. I ordered about 4 months after you though… Here’s hoping we both make it next week!!

I’m curious what the 104 stands for in your username? Are you in the Bay Area by chance?

I just dropped it all together. And, yes, I did get the Quad Beam LED’s. So, the BAP items that I’ll be wanting, you’ll be selling?? ?

I'm jealous of the BAP. I looked up your window sticker and you have pretty much the exact truck I wanted.... I dropped the BAP and got a build date just before they started offering the BAP without the bed-liner. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I just need a guide on what to order/replace aftermarket to get that look.

F*%&, now I'm more nervous than ever. Just saw a post about another buyer, show up to the dealership and they tacked on $7k to his ordered truck... I guess I'm going to call the dealership and discuss getting a signed sales order.

I'll be happy with the msrp. I didn't do enough research about the various ways to access the x-plan prior to going into the dealership. So, I just wanted a dealer that wasn't going to add a markup on a retail order. When I went in and signed the paperwork & put down my $500 deposit, I asked some basic questions based off the info I've learned here. My "Internet Sales" person was very against listening to what people say on "some internet forum"... I don't know, that left me with a bad feeling. I mean, your title say Internet Sales. She should understand how the internet works and the ability to share information. We ain't in MySpace anymore!

I hate to beat a dead horse here, but I'm just joining the worry train... I have an "Order Acknowledgement Form" (signed by a manager) and the order summary page. Both only list an msrp price. It sounds like I would need a different document, a dealer signed Order Agreement, if I want to easy my worries about the dealer adding a markup at the time of purchase?

I've been searching for a site that let's me pull up the window sticker for a 2021 F-250. It seems like they are all mostly pay sites... The researchmaniacs.com that I've been using for new trucks works great, but this 2021 doesn't come up. This truck (VIN# 1FT7W2BN0MEC38621) is for sale by private seller and I'm just trying to get the options list and msrp. Does anybody have any suggestions?
