787Toolman got a reaction from Johnny Yarbrough in Possible to add clearance lights after build?
I had a 2017 Platinum F350 without roof clearance lights that was dealer stock.  I ordered some clearance lights off Amazon and when I got them I realized the holes are rectangular and require a notch in the hole to .  Making holes is easy when the hole is round, very difficult to make a rectangular hole, especially with an added notch.  I contemplated having a metal punch made to punch the holes using a bolt with two piece die.  That was going to cost $300 to have a die punch custom made, plus you would need to remove the headliner and wire them to the lighting circuit which may not have a wire already in place.  I talked myself out of it but I made sure to add it to my custom ordered 2022.  I doubt a dealer has the correct equipment to add 5 rectangular holes in exact locations and on a compound curved surface, but you can surely inquire.

2022 F350 CC LB 6.7 4X4 with 3.55...Just finished a 3750 mile round trip from Southern Az to Northern Montana and back. 17.4 average over the entire trip. Truck was loaded with (5) adults, (2) dogs, full bed and (4) bikes hanging off the rear. You will definitely get better MPG if you keep it under 70 MPH.

I filled up a couple of days ago when the regular tank had 1/4 remaining. Cost me CAN$ 300. Fortunately, those were the cheaper prices in Alberta, as at home it will be almost CAN $400 to fill the tank.

Just to keep a little perspective here - those companies had losses of $6B - $8B in some quarters of 2020.  And profit margins are still only 12%.  It’s just that 12% of a really big revenue stream is a lot of money.

Of course the best thing for us to do is curtail our gas usage and that will naturally force prices back down.  I also saw where Biden is pushing back on the oil companies but I’m not sure exactly what he can do without making it a regulated monopoly.

Only saving grace is knowing a 7.3L gasser would be getting 6mpg or less with those conditions.

As of 2017, nearly 26 million acres of federal land were under lease to oil and gas developers in the United States.

Yea, companies' goal are to make profits, but this much?
Since Jan 2019, nearly all have doubled their profit amounts, and you and I are paying for it.

I have a 60 gallon S&B fuel tank on my diesel F-350 and filled it up today at Costco at $5.79/gallon. Although it had about a third of a tank, it still cost me $254.00. Talk about feeling the pain at the pump. Sheesh. One thing is for sure, after our vacation pulling the 5th wheel to Yosemite, I'm parking the truck until fuel prices come back to some sense of normalcy.

Well there was an article in the news the other day that Washington was programming fuel pumps for prices over 10 bucks a gallon.  Sure would be nice if the current political climate did not discourage drilling and refinement on US soil.

OMG, how far does this go before this becomes a major crisis and possibly a national security risk?  Someone rumored to me that diesel is heading for $10/gal, that will be over 4x increase from 2020, this is unsustainable IMHO.

Comparing MPG is like comparing insurance prices. There are so many variables. Terrain, how hard you accelerate, how early do you lift off when stopping, altitude, the price of milk, etc

    But, my 2020 F350 6.7 gets mid 16's around town, between 11-13 towing 11K 5th wheel.

I just finished a 1400 mile trip in my 22 F450 pulling a 17000 pound 5th wheel from Georgia to East Tennessee and then to Kentucky and back to Georgia.  I got 10 miles a gallon.  I have been getting 15.8 when not pulling anything.

On this current trip, I have completed about 1,700 miles and overall, I am averaging 17.7 miles to the smaller US gallon. This is a combination of climbing through the Rockies at 60 to 70 mph and then on the motorway across the Prairies at 70 mph. It has definitely improved since clearing the mountains.

Today we were in no hurry, so did about 200 miles at 50 mph and averaged about 24 to 25 mpg, again converting to the US gal. At 60-65 on the flat I get about 20 mpg.

F-450 with 4.3 rear end and only 170 miles when we started.

With the 10-speed, I am finding improved fuel economy over the 2016 F-350 DRW 4x2.

Haven't hitched up our 5th wheel yet.

I always leave streak, and they look horrible, but my wife has a knack for cleaning windows, sunglasses etc., so I just get her to do it.   Also the streaks bother her more than me, so normally she volunteers.
