  1. Correct, but the clock starts when the vehicle is purchased new. I purchased an extended warranty on my last truck when the vehicle was new. I had intended for that to be the the last truck I own but it didn't work out that way. I sold it with a month and 1800 miles left on the bumper to bumper warranty. The 6 year 100k ESP cost me $2800. I got a refund of $1400. I got exactly zero value for the $1400 I didn't get back. I lost that whole $1400. It never even bought me a shred of peace of mind. That is a horrible deal and I will never do it again.
  2. I would wait to purchase the extended warranty. You can purchase it any time before the bumper to bumper expires. If you purchase it when the vehicle is new then the truck gets stolen or totaled in an accident before the bumper to bumper expires, you lose all of that money for nothing. Plus it will give you a chance to see how reliable your particular truck is going to be.
  3. I signed up on Ford's website to notify me when new Super Duty pickups become available in my area. The past few weeks I've started seeing more trucks with blue window stickers. These are not stripped down XL or XLT models. They are fairly well optioned Lariats. Diesel, Lariat value package, upfitter switches, e locker, garage door remote, etc. Crossing my fingers that it's a sign things are getting better since Ford said they are prioritizing retail orders over stock orders.
  4. I've seen you say this over and over again and you are absolutely correct. And it means NOTHING to the hundreds of thousands of people who are trying to navigate the retail order purchase experience for the very first time. We may get a email with a printout of the DORA and agree to a price. We expect to get the price we agreed on. Ford knows what I agreed to because they required me to sign to validate the order. It is unreasonable to expect a person who has never ordered a vehicle to learn every possible way for a dealership to screw you over in this process. The vehicle purchase process now takes months instead of hours and I understand that. I am willing to do my part and suffer the wait, I expect Ford to do their part and keep dealers in line. Every franchise agreement states that franchisees must not do things which hurt the brand. The dealer plays this game every day so they have the ultimate advantage and ultimate responsibility to represent Ford. No matter how many times people get on here and defend them, I guarantee you that I will hold Ford responsible if my dealer goes back on his word because the dealer is the face of Ford Motor Company. They have an opportunity to reward my dedication as a customer. If this doesn't go well it will be the last new Ford I purchase. In case anybody is watching and thinks I'm not serious about that, it has been almost a decade since I've purchased anything from Best Buy because they refused to honor a coupon.
  5. When the price of fuel spikes, the price of less fuel efficient vehicles drops. I went ahead and sold my truck in March when the fuel rose sharply. I'll have to pay 8.375% sales tax when/if the F450 arrives but that will be at least September. I'm betting that my trade value would drop more than 8.375% between March and September. Time will tell if it was a good gamble but I didn't want to risk a 20-30% drop to save 8.375%. FWIW, dealership already reduced their asking price to less than they gave me.
  6. I went with a Lariat because I couldn't stand the interior color options on the King Ranch and Platinum. Went with Iconic Silver exterior because I wanted something that didn't show dirt as bad as the darker colors and but didn't want it to look like a Gov'ment truck either. F450 wont fit in the automatic car wash so it may get a bath once a month, if that. Not really a fan of any of the Super Duty colors.
  7. I've had both drop-in and spray bedliners. I prefer the spray because of the slippery nature of the hard plastic drop-in liners. When my new truck arrives I'll install a bed rug. If that doesn't work then I'll do the spray.
  8. With fuel prices soaring, anybody else rethinking their decision to hold onto their trade-in truck while they wait for the new one? Worried that the sales tax incentive won't cover the rapid depreciation.
  9. Looks like a nice, clean install. How is it at keeping water out?
  10. Yep, I got the same email yesterday. I took it as "Hey, your order is still in our system and we haven't forgotten about you. Please be patient with us as we navigate these supply obstacles." That is a step in the right direction. I have a right to expect a different level of service when I am ordering a truck that costs $80k more than a refrigerator I order from Home Depot. What would be really nice is an email once a month that says "As of today's date, these are the options that are keeping us from building the truck you ordered." I don't really expect that. Ford makes money on upselling. The options I selected on the truck I ordered represents over 25% of the MSRP. Ford doesn't really want me to start deleting options.
  11. Hi everyone. I've been a Ford guy most of my life, owning many Mustangs and quite a few pickups. I tried Chevy for my last truck because Ford dealers in town had no interest in making a reasonable deal on Super Duty pickups. Happy to say I'm going to be back in a Ford as soon as my retail order F-450 shows up. Just ordered it a week ago from Chapman. I wonder if it will be a '22 or a '23 model. Hoping for its a '22 but logic says its likely to be a '23. Anyway, thanks to all of the nice folks offering all of their advice and insider info. It really helped me to make my decision to move back into the Ford family.
