  1. Thanks everyone for the input. Just as an update I got word from the dealer that the recall issue with my truck was taken care of and I'm set to pick up next week. As I thought the fix didn't take long. Hopefully nothing else pops up that would delay getting it.
  2. Hi all, So the SuperDuty I ordered has finally reached the dealer and I think I'm going to be able to run down and get it only to find it's been recalled for the "Reprogram Integrated Trailer Relay Module." The dealer told me there is no time estimate on when this will or can get done and I don't really have any more information. Updating the module sounds like they plug it in to something and tell it to update. Is there anything more to it? It looks like it's a new recall but should I expect this to delay when I can pick up my truck? In all honesty I have to fly to pick it up from an out of state dealer and have a window in just under two weeks that would work. I read the remedy description and it sounds like there is not a lot to it and technically can go to any dealership to have the work done. The dealer told me they want to make sure everything is good with my truck before they deliver it to me, which I respect, but do they have to do the work or can they let it go knowing I'll have it done at a home dealership? Thanks for the input.
  3. You guys are probably right. I had actually thought that same thing earlier but wanted to believe it was something else. Thanks for the help
  4. Hi all, I'm hoping someone may have some insight on the delivery process. I have an F350 on order that has been built and is in transit to the dealer. The truck was built 2/1 in Kentucky and has been in transit since 2/12. It was shipped by rail 2/23 and arrived in Kansas City 3/8. It has been in a convoy carrier delay since then and now the most recent update is there is a plant hold. Does anyone know what that might mean? Why would it be in a plant hold at a different location then the plant it was built at? I'm so confused and my dealer will not answer any questions or offer any other information. They only respond by saying we will call you when it arrives. It wouldn't be such a big deal if I had ordered the truck locally but I hunted prices and ordered the truck from a dealer which requires me to take time off work and fly out to get it. Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated. Thanks
  5. Ah yes, the age old debate/argument rears it's ugly head. I never said I was tight on payload capacity. I simply said I wanted to reduce weight on the payload capacity. Why have the extra weight if not needed? Payload police won't get me
  6. I have no idea. I'm assuming it's local to the factory. That was all the info I had which only indicated it went off site.
  7. It's completely possible. I was in there getting my fuel filters changed and talking to him about the new truck on order. I'll also admit I have never looked into leveling or adjusting the rake or suspension on either my current or new truck before so I'm not sure... I'm always a little sceptic about recommendations from a mechanic I didn't ask for that are expensive so I though I'd ask the group.
  8. HI all, I have an F350 in transit to the dealer who sent me a list of accessory options. One of the options is a readylift level kit for $595. A diesel mechanic I take my current truck to said I should consider a level kit and new shocks because the factory shocks are junk it would prevent the death wobble. I really don't know anything about leveling kits. Is a leveling kit important to have and what exactly does it do to improve the driving characteristics of the truck? I tow a 15,000 pound fifth wheel intermittently in the summer - will it affect the towing? Is readylift a good leveling kit? What other kits are out there and what do you all recommend? Is there any other information I should know? Thanks for the help
  9. I have the bakflip mx4 and it works great. I fold it up to the last section and leave that one down. I don't have the CHMBL camera but I can look over the back window and see the hitch just fine. I've ordered a new F350 with the CHMBL camera. I'm not sure which cover I'm going to get. The bakflip is pretty heavy and I was thinking about getting a soft tonneau cover to reduce the weight on the payload capacity.
  10. We've had both. We went from an explorer to an expedition and then back to an explorer. The expedition was a great rig but just a little too big for us, mainly my wife since it was her vehicle and what she drove every day.
  11. I'm paying for the new truck mainly with the sale of my current truck and a large down payment. Will have to finance maybe the last 10-15% for a short time. Hate not paying for it outright but these trucks are so crazy expensive now.
  12. Ordered 10/7, Priority code 19. Sent to plant 12/21, produced 01/27. Sent offsite for fifth wheel prep and released awaiting shipment 02/01. Now in transit starting 02/12 F350 SRW CCLB Platinum, 5th wheel package, no spray in bedliner, no AS, no Tonneau cover
  13. Hey all. New to the site. Hope everyone is doing well. I've owned Fords all my adult life. Have had a couple explorers, a ranger, F150, and now a '11 King Ranch F350. I'm also waiting on a newly ordered F350.
