  1. Hey everyone, I have been searching for specs on the turbos used in the 2017 3.5L V6 ecoboost. I’m looking to add a bov if compatible. Any info would be appreciated. Google has failed me.
  2. So I'm currently looking at my choices for my next car and the 2015 Mustang is at the top of my list. My main issue with it is winter driving, will winter tires be enough? I know the 2015 will have a winter mode according to some of the articles I've read, but I'm wondering how much I'll have to fight the car. Does anyone have first hand experience in their Mustangs that would recommend or not recommend the Mustang as a daily driver in Michigan? I really want one but I don't want to regret it too much in the winter, although the $4-$6k difference between an EcoBoost Premium and a Lincoln MKC could buy a good snow tire/rim combo and quite a few sandbags... Attached is the one I want, although I'll likely add the performance pack:
  3. Hello, Does anyone know if the 2.0 rolling in fusions these days is the twin scroll redesign that edge got a year or two back ? I'm still waiting on my factory order, build date was 6.22 and its still not here so I can't check myself.
  4. All, So first off I finally got our 2014 Ford Explorer Sport on Jan. 26, 2014 after ordering it on Black Friday. It's been one of the best cars as far as ride quality, comfort/amenities that I've owned in a long time....oh and did I mention it's a BLAST to drive. All this from a guy who is 36 years old and has owned 5 new GM trucks and a Yukon Denali in my life and at one point swore up and down that I would never buy a FORD But I do hope that the below issue I'm going to tell you about is fully resolved by my dealer and Ford to keep my trust in this company. BTW I now have 3500 miles on my vehicle. So I have some major concerns with some issues that I've been having lately. I wanted to bring it up here, because it's not a known issue, my dealer hasn't heard of it and I don't get ANY lights that come on when this happens. So here's the problem. About a month after owning it, I was travelling on the Highway....I was traveling about about 60mph ....I signaled to get over and gave it gas to speed up moderately to about 75mph or so. When I pressed on the gas the car basically almost stalled on me...it wasn't a transmission trying to think which gear to shift into issue, it was a straight choking of the gas and stuttering/hesitating until I let off the gas 2 times or so and then press down on the gas again and it takes off, but it a noticeable lose of power. This has happened now 4 times with this past weekend 3/30/2014 being the most recent. However the highway speed was the only high speed incident. The other 3 times that it occured were all in town, on one of them I was making a simple u-turn from a stop and when I pressed the gas (not heavily) to get up and out of the turn it stalled. The other time was passing to another lane and giving it some gas to speed up. This past Sunday I was travelling on a 2 lane road then changes to a 1 lane road approx. 100 yards after the stop lights. I was stopped behind a vehicle and when we started moving the vehicle in front was only going about 20-25mph in a 45mph zone. So I signaled and saw a van in the lane about 100 yards back so I pressed on the gas to get some speed to pass him before the lane ended and again nothing crazy just to get up to 45-50mph or so and the darn thing stalled on me again!!! This is now becoming a HUGE concern for me as I have 2 young daughters and a wife to worry about and I need a car that I'm confident in driving and need to know the power is on tap when needed to pass someone or to get out of the way if needed (like crossing a busy road where cross-traffic doesn't stop). Also the big concern I have now is that the family and I are planning on a cross-country road trip this summer from May 24-June 10 and we will be driving from Northern California to Niagra Falls and back stopping along several states of course and some more than just a night. Anyways as I've stated I'm already working with my dealership on this and I have a scheduled appointment next Tuesday to bring my vehicle in and keep it with them for a day to see if they can make it happen on their watch. Like I've mentioned no lights come on and after it happened the 2nd time I went to the dealership to pick up some items and while I was there I brought up the concern, and they hooked up a reader to see if they saw any error codes etc..and saw none. So I'm hoping and praying that they find something this time. I have even offered to stay with them for a couple hours and show them how I drive and try to make the issue happen again....so we'll see what they say. I wanted to get this out there to make everyone aware as well as to see if anyone else were having similar issues with their 2013 or 2014 Explorer Sport. I pray that a solution is found prior to hitting the road trip. Thanks!
  5. What changes, additions, deletions would you suggest to Ford for future Ford Fusion? Include the version (Gas, Hybrid or Energi) and trim level (if applicable).
  6. Any Idea when Ford dealer's will see a Fiesta ST on the lots here in North America ? Heard there might be a hold on them at the plant any truth to that ? I've had one on order since Spring so ANY info would be fun to have Thanks RM

  10. http://media.ford.com/news/fordstartsvolumevehicleproductioninromanianewfordb-maxfirstoffthelineatcraiovaplant.htm so any idea what this engine is? an I-4? a larger I-3? with current EcoBoost tech of 125hp per liter it would make 190hp, vs the 1.6's 180hp. or ~120hp N/A If it is an I-3 expect decent gain in economy over the 1.6 I-4.
  11. Ordered a Reg Cab XLT 4X4 w/EcoBoost in Green Gem w/Two tone paint and Chrome running boards on 4/9. Should have gone into production on 5/7. I am awaiting confirmation of that and an estimated ship/delivery date. I wish there was a better tracking system for such an expenscve purchase--like how UPS can track millions of packages a day. Has anyone seen a Green Gem F150 live? I have only seen pictures and the online BYO rendering--but I love green so I ordered the color. So looking forward to my first Brand new F150, which will be my third! --BigJoe57

All three engines in the new Escape are EPA-certified at 30-plus mpg on the highway. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost, certified at 30 mpg on the highway, beats the Toyota RAV4 by 3 mpg and the Chevrolet Equinox by 6 mpg. “The fuel economy of the all-new Escape showcases the continued success of Ford’s development of smaller, yet more powerful engines, “ said Raj Nair, group vice president, Ford Global Product Development. “Ford understands people want fuel-efficient vehicles without sacrificing power and space requirements.” Escape’s 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine – offered for the first time in North America – delivers 33 mpg highway and 23 mpg city, produces 178 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, topping the Mazda CX-5 by more than 20 horsepower and 30 lb.-ft. of torque. Those looking for maximum power coupled with solid fuel efficiency can opt for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost with 30 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost delivers 240 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque. It is also rated at 3,500 pounds towing, which leads the pack for small, turbocharged SUVs. The Escape’s 2.5-liter offers 31 mpg on the highway – a 3 mpg improvement over the outgoing standard engine – and 22 mpg in the city. EcoBoost engines are standard in the SE, SEL and Titanium editions. The SE and SEL models come with the 1.6L standard and the Titanium comes with the 2.0-liter. The 2.5-liter is available in the S edition. With the EPA certification, the Escape is the latest vehicle to join Ford’s fuel-efficient lineup. Ford now offers eight vehicles with 40 mpg or more and 11 vehicles with fuel-efficient EcoBoost engines. Top fuel economy and performance EcoBoost engines are at the core of Ford’s plan to offer outstanding fuel efficiency for millions of drivers. By 2013, more than 90 percent of Ford’s North American lineup will be available with EcoBoost technology. Ford also holds more than 125 patents on EcoBoost engine technology. Both new Escape engines combine EcoBoost’s core technologies of direct fuel injection and turbocharging and add twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) to deliver even better miles per gallon and save customers money on fuel. In Escape, EcoBoost engines are mated to specially calibrated, six-speed SelectShift Automatic® transmissions, which are standard. Drivers who want more hands-on experiences can manually control gear selection from a switch on the left-hand side of the shifter. Improved aerodynamics Fuel efficiency in the new Escape is helped by a new Active Grille Shutter System. Positioned between the grille opening and the radiator, the shutter is monitored by the engine control module. The grille automatically opens and closes to maintain the ideal operating temperature and optimize aerodynamics. The new Escape arrives in U.S. dealerships next month. In addition to class-leading fuel efficiency, Escape features a liftgate with motion-sensing technology similar to video games’ and an upgraded MyFord Touch® system that makes connecting with digital devices even easier. 13. All-New 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost Engine Further Extends Advanced EcoBoost Technology in China The all-new engine will debut in China in the all-new Ford EcoSport – offering the performance of a conventional 1.6-litre engine with less than 140g/km CO2 emissions The fuel-efficient three-cylinder broadens the range of EcoBoost™ engines in China – the new Mondeo is currently available with a 2.0-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder while the all-new Ford Kuga will feature 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre EcoBoost engines This newest and smallest member of the global family of EcoBoost engines features advanced turbo-charging technology, improved twin independent variable camshaft timing and intelligent ancillaries to deliver performance that belies its small size Ford Ecoboost Forum – Ford is expanding its advanced EcoBoost™ powertrain technology in China with the addition of its newest and smallest-ever EcoBoost engine. With only three cylinders and 1.0 litre of displacement, the latest EcoBoost engine will provide fuel-efficient power for the all-new Ford EcoSport. Despite its smaller capacity and proportions, the engine delivers power and performance that will rival a traditional 1.6-litre petrol engine while emitting less than 140g/km CO2. It will have 88 kW of power and 170 Nm of torque. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission, it will give the Ford EcoSport a footprint that is small enough for urban driving yet robust enough for a trip out of the city. The 1.0-litre EcoBoost uses turbocharging and direct fuel injection to extract impressive levels of power and fuel efficiency from its three-cylinder engine block, which is so small that it can fit on a sheet of A4 paper. This combination of power and low CO2 emissions is unmatched by competitors in its segment. Ultimately, this all-new engine will be made available in Ford models in Asia, Europe, North America and other regions. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder is the latest addition to Ford’s family of EcoBoost engines in China. The new Mondeo currently features a 2.0-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder while the all-new Ford Kuga will launch with a 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine as well as the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine. Downsized EcoBoost engines feature turbocharging, direct injection and other technologies and replace larger engines with no loss of performance and with lower fuel consumption. “China was one of the first markets in Asia to enjoy the progressive EcoBoost technology,” said Kumar Galhotra, vice president, Product Development, Ford Asia Pacific and Africa. “The introduction of the small-but-potent 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine demonstrates Ford’s continued commitment to bring the latest powertrains that deliver superior fuel economy and reduced carbon dioxide emissions to China.” Compact and responsive Developed at Ford’s Dunton Technical Centre in the U.K., the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine features a new compact, high performance turbocharger design. The extremely fast response of the turbocharger and its ability to reach nearly 250,000 rpm results in virtually no turbo lag and peak torque of 170 Nm from 1,300-4,500 rpm. This high torque supports a fuel-efficient driving style and delivers a good performance feel and diesel-like torque experience. The all-new EcoBoost engine also features an exhaust manifold cast into the cylinder head, which lowers the temperature of the exhaust gases and in turn enables the engine to run with the optimum fuel-to-air ratio across a wider rev band. An advanced “split cooling” system reduces fuel consumption by warming the engine more quickly and – unique to the 1.0 engine –cast iron has been selected for the block, reducing the amount of energy needed for warm-up by up to 50 per cent compared with aluminium. Intelligent ancillaries such as a variable air-conditioning compressor and oil pump also reduce demand on the engine – improving economy and emissions – while special coatings for engine components and intricate development of engine geometry result in minimal frictional losses. Like its larger-capacity siblings, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine will use twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) to further improve performance and economy. Ford has also employed an all-new camshaft actuator to speed up response times without sacrificing durability. “The 1.0-litre EcoBoost delivers great low-speed responsiveness, power, torque and smoothness,” said Galhotra. “To produce an engine with such impressive performance and fuel economy clearly reflects our commitment to be class-leading in fuel economy around the world." Smooth and refined In the all-new 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost engine, the emphasis in development has been on delivering both smooth and refined performance. Engine refinement is improved thanks to an innovative design that immerses the two main engine drive belts in oil – resulting in quieter and more efficient running but with the durability of a chain. Careful attention has also been paid to mitigating the natural vibrations of the three-cylinder design. Rather than employ the traditional method of adding energy-draining balancer shafts, Ford engineers have deliberately “unbalanced” the flywheel and pulley to offset the engine configuration. Ford believes these innovations combined with optimised engine mounts will deliver a truly refined performance feel perfected during 720,000 kilometres of tests – including 360,000 kilometres of durability trials and 10,000 kilometres of environmental testing. “Fitted with a long list of innovative technologies, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost is one of the most technically advanced and efficient engines Ford has ever designed and produced,” said Galhotra. “This new engine demonstrates Ford’s laser focus on improving fuel economy without compromising performance. It will be an engine that not only surprises and delights our customers but also offers them great value in the lower cost of ownership.”
