In that case why do we need Airconditioned seats...

In the interest of full disclosure, I have also wondered the exact same thing. But last I heard they don't take 2.5 hours to keep your crack from festering, either ;)

Is the FlexFridge accessible from the front? Or is it built into the center console, accessed from the second row?

Stupid chrome three bar grille.

Do you have like nightmares about that or something?

I think you need to see a shrink (had a curious mental image of you having a nightmare a la the video for "Black Hole Sun" only instead of everyone just having huge smiles, they'd have huge smiles with 3 chrome bars for teeth).

Of course, look what I just typed. Maybe I need a shrink.

Maybe we both need shrinks. We could double up, maybe save money on the fees?

The design of this vehicle is so completely random and hodge-podged. There is no coherency or balance. It's VERY long, VERY low, it looks like it was stepped on! The dual-paint scheme makes this illusion even worse. I HATE this thing, it's an eye-sore and an embarrassment! It's one thing to be original, it's another thing to be random. Ford needs a Lambda fighter and this ain't it! This product will only appeal to a VERY narrow audience. I am ALWAYS suspicious of products that began as a designer's concept, the market research was driven to justify the product, not the other way around. I think we'll see an initial interest, but this is a very trendy interpretation of a CUV, it won't have much staying power and will soon turn bitter in time.

trendy perhaps.....and we all know how the Scion, Mini cooper, toyota FJ, ford mustang, VW beetle all initially failed miserably.....

If I could at all help it I would get cloth over leather...and if I had to I would hope it was cooled

Are you flying to Michigan, or I am I flying to the 'Dakota's? :hysterical:

I was thinking we could split the difference. Go to Mayo. With the problems we've got, we need to go someplace where they really know what they're doing.

Rochester's a little bit closer to me, but you're union. You make like $375 an hour. I understand most of the lawyers in Detroit ended up doing that for a living because they couldn't get hired at the plants.

Now coming from an 18 year old i know a lot of you guys will dismiss what I say but I think that this is a really different approach at a crossover. It really doesn't look like any other crossover thats out now (minus the freestyle/taurus x)...as some crossovers look like bloated station wagons (Chrysler Pacifica comes to mind and more recently the Acadia and Outlook). This appears to be a lot less chunky and I personally LOVE the profile with the sleekish yet squarish shape and looooong body. I also really love the separate roof color which comes right from the Mini Cooper and is something that should differentiate itself from the others really nicely. As for the interior, I really like what I see from the pictures. The center stack is a really nice touch reminess of Volvo's and the silver trim whether fake or not fits nicely with everything else. The only thing I think needs to be fixed is the wood trim that runs through the top of the gauges....its a small nit picky thing but i think it would look better blacked out to separate the wood from both sides of the dash. Hopefully they'll get the tires/brakes right cuz i'm sure it will be packing on a bit of weight. Otherwise I love it...and i'm not even the type of person Ford is hoping this vehicles will attract! I cannot wait to see it next year!

What the.. unions make 375 bux an hour? I wanna join te UAW.

Not only that, Ford actually PAYS them if they have to go to the doctor. They get $25 every time they have a prescription filled, and the best part of it is, they get an extra $95 an hour if they actually do their job.

Now that's what I call pay for performance!

Here are the High-Res pics. I think the interior and dashboard are near perfection, no gripes about the layout and features.

Thise are very nice shots. I like the interior a lot. I hope some parts like the center console, guages and lighting make there way to the Taurus/Taurus X maybe the Fusion and Edge. This is one of the nicest interiors Ford has put out. I am not in the market and I like the Flex a lot.

Richard, you mentioned as a joke earlier that there was no manumatic. Just have some F1 changers behind the steering wheel ;)

I hope everybody understands that Rich is being sarcastic in his last couple of posts.

WHAT?

I'm like deadly serious man. I know a guy who knows a guy whose brother went to high school with a kid whose uncle used to work for AMC, and that's TOTALLY the way things are. He said the French wanted to copy the UAW's 3 day work week and mandatory full pension at age 35, but they couldn't get the government to sign off on it.

Overall, it looks good. In profile it looks like a pickup truck with a cab on back, from a distance.

From the low angle pictures they're showing, it looks very Range Roverish.

Quibbles and Questions:

with my hands at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock, I'm not going to be able to see the speedometer. Rather have important stuff like that front and center and unobstructed. Do I really need to keep a weather eye on the gas gauge in this century of idiot lights?

that clock takes up an awful lot of critical dash space, and it doesn't even look like that portion of the panel flips up! Storage, storage, storage. The fridge will be appreciated as a purse-locker, but where do the sunglasses, tissue, loose change you need to fling down quickly because the joker behind you wants you out of the drive-through window NOW. Where do you park your ipod exactly? Where are the MULTIPLE power outlets? Maybe in the big center console, where you won't be able to read their displays?

anyone know how the rear door/hatch opens? Power open option? Whole door vs just the glass part? To the side? Which side? Can the glass be lowered or vented while in motion? Is that even legal anymore (ah, long ago memories of facing backwards in a 9-passenger wagon with the back window down).

is there any talk of AWD?

1) That's the Ford standard IP cluster. Visibility shouldn't be a problem. The wheel:ip relationship is probably what it is on the Fusion, Taurus, etc.

2) there's a storage bin below it, one which in some of the press pics, appears to have unfinished edges on it (oops).

3) The center console has storage bins on either side of it, and there are bins in the doors. The center console will extend to the floor (as it does on all new Fords) providing space for lap tops, and removable dividers that can be used to create additional storage bins outside the center console/armrest thingy. Powerpoints are in the center bin and apparently on either side of the center console. The display from your multi-media device will appear on the center nav screen if you have purchased Sync.

4) the rear liftgate is a typical liftgate, it opens up, not to the side. I would assume that in lieu of rolling down into the gate, the rear glass can lift up independent of the gate.

Yes according to the early specs there is 'Intelligent' AWD. This transfers up to 100% of the power to either the front or rear. Just like the Edge/MKX. I was wondering if that is a Halex unit or in-house. Anyone want to take this one?
