The backing plate with the mirror is removable as one piece.

Push in on the bottom center of the mirror, it will flip out from the top.

 

Then you will see that it has a split hinge on the bottom of the backing plate.

Put your finger at the split in the hinge and push out on the backing plate and mirror as one piece.

 

OK, This worries me if is that simple to remove, than what stops people from stealing it, and the only availability of replacement is as an assembly for around $200.00?

 

So how's it go, ("Ford has a better idea"), or, something like that.

whos going to steal something from a vehicle whose total count nationwide is somewhere just south of...............3? maybe they should make them lockable like the superdutys tailgate sorry carr...get ready for some quips from these guys....

I just can't see people jacking side mirrors for shits, giggles or profit.
