FORD CONTRACT HIGHLIGHTS!

If you currently work at an ACH plant, read page 8 of the highlights. You will be able to transfer to another facility BEFORE Ford can higher an entry level employee.

Flowback volunteers have always been just one step above new hires even when flowback orginaly started. If a 2 year senority employee is laid off form AAI, would they have call back rights before any ACH flowback with 15+ years?

Anyone care to aknowedge that the UAW Ford dept posted the highlights for all to see?

Sure. They posted the highlights. +1 for the Union.

Now, let me see the rest. The stuff the Union doesn't want me to see. The concessions, the GEN details, the stuff they won't acknowledge.

As a production worker at van dyke trans. (1999 sen.) I have to say that most of the people I talked to yesterday afternoon were in favor of the deal. The general feeling was that this sounds as good as or better than the gm or chrysler deals. People are actually suspicious that there must be things they are not saying. with all of the precontract hype to expect bigger cuts at ford, we expected to see major cuts and concessions.

I can see the Ford workers at former visteon plants may have issues, hopefully you will be listed by seniority right along with people from closed plants and laid off staff , for a quick return to a ford facility. It is not that clear in the summary language though is it?

I guess the big question is are we missing something? how is this really saving ford very much money?

Excellent question, unfortunately I don't see it covered anywhere in the info we have right now.

Just to reference the now concluded flowback, there would have to be an opening to go to a different facility. Would that be considered a job opening since the work is being performed by a TFT?

Dunno........

I would think so as long as the job being preformed by a TFT was slated to be reduced out! You can bet that the chairmen at each local is not going to allow members to flowback and displace that current work force if there is going to be a work force reduction at their plants!

I am personally happy with this contract.I think we really made out considering the state of the company and all the doom and gloom that we all expected.

If you have already excepted the basic structure of the contract, then at least the highlights seem to be better.. The devil is in the details, we need to rip apart the language to see where he is hiding. If you guys remember GM's work guarantee's seemed allot less like guarantees once you read the language, they still had to make a business case and it was at the discretion of the company to decide weather or not to follow through! Last I heard they we're going to layoff, just like Crystler! ;) Our reps are headed to Lima tomorrow and will get the language, I'm sure it will be posted in short order!

Just got the call for a meeting tomorrow to discuss the contract. We will be required to vote immediately after the Q&A. Dunno if it will be the same for the rest of you but you better bone up (no pun intended) on the new contract ASAP if that's the case.

We have no Q&A date set yet and our plant is not voting until next tuesday according to the Detroit Newspaper.

We are having our meeting and and vote in the same day at KTP and LAP on Sunday. Here it is hurry up and vote! I dont like being rushed, but other than that it seem like a pretty good contract. What I dont understand is how Ford would be saving any money. The analyst said that Ford would have to shut down 6-8 plants and get rid of 10,000 employees to return to profitability. How did this contract change that and now everything is honkey-dorey? They are hiding something!
