Completely loaded Pontiac G8 will cost just $32,895

This document shows a breakdown of 2009 G8 pricing that reveals the most expensive combination of trim level, packages and individual options could add up to a G8 GT with an MSRP of just $32.895. That's barely $2,000 over the base price of the G8 GT model. It also includes a set of 18-inch all-season tires that cost $150. Delete that option and stick with the 19-inch wheels wrapped with performance rubber and the price drops to just $32,745.

Well, if you really want to be specific, Lincoln only competes with two brands. Ford and Mercury, since they are basically the high trim level of the three.

Still laughing, or does the truth hurt?

That truth is sad. Lincoln, a once prestigious brand has been reduced to a trim level on a Ford. How short was that straw?

Nor should it, Lincoln competing with Pontiac....funny.

Not so funny when you look at lincolns product...................Ford is not able to give Lincoln a car like the G*, they are at the most capable of giving lincoln gussied up fords, atleast starting with the MKS they it won't be so noticeable.

Won't be so noticeable? Are you on drugs, the MKS looks nothing like its platform mates and is in fact on a heavily revised platform.

This coming from the guy that can't see the same greenhouse in the triplets.

I can see the greenhouse is the same, but most people would never notice. Looking from the front or back, you cannot tell it is the same car as the Fusion. Even you must be able to admit the MKS is completely different from the Taurus.

Yes, you can. You shouldn't judge people's observations if you can't take the same criticism.

They look different, but they are not completely different.

I think that it's sign of fiscal insanity to pay anything more than $20k for ANY piece of rolling tin that loses 20-30% of its value ( http://www.insidercarsecrets.com ) when you put the keys in the ignition for the first time and drive it off of the lot.

And speaking as someone with a gross household income of nearly $100k and solidly in the NYT 5th earning quintile ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Household_inc...e_United_States ) , I can't imagine how any family earning less could or would want to pay more than $20k for anything whose sole purpose is to get you from point A to point B. And I'm a guy that truly enjoys automobiles! But.... I enjoy staying out of debt, and buying other important things for my and my family's use too!

With the skyrocketing cost of energy, food, housing, college, debt reduction, and car insurance, etc., etc., I doubt many family incomes will be able to support $30k+ vehicle purchases.... unless they're leases.

Not a criticism or condemnation of the auto industry.... but just an observation.

And I'm a guy that truly enjoys KOREAN automobiles!

There, fixed that for ya.

(Sorry... couldn't resist. I was surprised to see you in here!)

But I happen to agree 100% with your sentiments. Hence, my grand adventure in finding a used Freestyle. It's a shame when you can by a quality, like-new car for $16K and then find the sticker, peeled off the window only 20 months prior, for over $32K...

I bought the '97 T-bird with very minor fender damage for $7500, only 60K miles. 120,000 miles later I spent maybe an additional $1000 on that car, not counting the Pirellis I once had for fun. Think about it: no priced-new econo-box is going to touch a big, pseudo-luxury V8 coupe in spirit or fun for that little coin. Heck I should be an honorary member of The Panther Mafia with a record like that!

BUT... I must say that who cares what the name on the car is... for the features and specs, the G8 IS a very tempting proposition. I would cross the Mustang off the list in a heartbeat.

Cute Marie..... real cute!

But seriously..... I've only purchased one foreign car in my life.... the (in)famous Spectra that many on here know about.

I've ALSO got a cherry '88 5.0 LX in my garage, along with a leased Chrysler van for Momma and the not-so-little-anymore ones. I've also got a still-in-good-shape mid '90s Chevy C1500 to pull my pop-up camper and sleds up north. So you could say I'm an equal opportunity driver to say the least!

I know one thing though... if the dollar continues to sink, the cost of domestic iron is going to start looking more attractive in a hurry! I think that's been becoming more true over the past couple of years anyways!

Nice!! Seems like a pretty good deal for a decent looking, seemingly performance oriented vehicle. I really think the G8 will be a strong seller GM. Hopefully Ford will take notice and produce something equivalent.

They do but North America isn't interested in the next Falcon......

1. And that V8 puts out 362 horsepowers and 391 torques.

2. Ford period has nothing that will compete with it.

1. doesn't it have the LS2....why did they lower the ratings....didn't want to steal the Camaro's thunder, i know they could make that one fast sedan if they wanted to(but i guess they would have to raise the price)

2. um yeah they do, but right now is not a time to bring something over here when they have more profitable vehicles to worry about(tough i would love to have a Falcon)

I hear what you're saying F-150, under different circumstances I'm sure Ford would have an

a la carte showroom of locals and imports. Sadly financial pressures don't allow that to happen.

I'm sure the Falcon is a car that both Panther and Taurus drivers would really enjoy so hopefully,

North America gets to and does something off a Mustang to help out the RWD sedan lovers.

Suggest if you're ever down our corner of the world, check out both Commodore and Falcon.

Depending on your driving style, you'll tend to like one over the other. Both cars are really great

at soaking up long distance drives. Nothing better than having a good handling car on those lonely

outback trips.

With such a small power difference, I'd still take a Charger over this.
