silvrsvt
3. Historically another thing you are forgetting is that Ford made mountains of money over the years by selling high volume products. understandable, but also hasn't the market moved away from the model of selling high volume products, just because there are more players on the market now eating from the same pie? I can only think of 4 cars (not including trucks) that I would consider High Volume products in the US: Accord/Camry/Civic and Collora. Most everything else sells under 175K units a year. So in other words, for the past 20 years or so, The F-series, The Taurus from 1986 to 1996 and the Explorer from 1992 till 2002 where Ford's only sources of income? RichardJensen
But consider the monumental errors made by management that allowed Ford to lose the capability of even larger profits with large sales volumes. Doesn't this fall under the heading of "crying over spilled milk"?
armadamaster
Rather than arguing Panther Vs D3, I'd say Ford is continuing toignore the RWD sedan segment even though it has several choices of either upgrading panthers, releasing a new RWD platform or Importing Aussie Falcon. So seemingly fumbling around doing nothing is the real crime. As a stop gap, why not import some new Falcons for 2009 fitted with North American engines, Australia could easily supply about 30,000/year to compete with Pontiac G8. At least that would give the veneer of caring... Well golly gee, that matter Ford could just bring the Panther based Marauder back with an actual powerplant and actually make more than a $1 off of them per unit versus importing something from the almighty AU car gods. jpd80
Well golly gee, that matter Ford could just bring the Panther based Marauder There I fixed it for you. Oh and by the way, our new RWD Falcon will be out in April. There's only going to be one RWD platform shared by Mustang and Falcon so enjoy your Panthers while you have them. Best way is to actually buy a new one!!! Edited January 5, 2008 by jpd80

RichardJensen
Dude, that's his 'armada' BTW, what is up with using 'armada' like it's something great? What happened to the original armada? You know, the Spanish one? Oh yeah, that's right, complete and utter failure.
