mountaineerwv
What's your definition of bankruptcy??? Here, I will give you a little help: http://people.bu.edu/kotlikoff/Is%20the%20...t%203-13-07.pdf Yes, we are heading towards the cliff with our current path, but are we bankrupt now? The answer is NO, BUT.......... we better start to change our direction or we will be bankrupt. So, with this kind of knowledge, why are we still debating how big a tax cut we should get? Lunacy, sheer lunacy.

Trimdingman
You work at Ford and pay $33,000 in income taxes? Are you a Ford executive? No wonder Ford cars are so expensive. I thought Reagan and Bush lowered the top tax bracket to help out you top 1% earners. I live in Canada, your socialist Utopia. I pay high income tax because I get "free" government health care. I worked on the line. I am now in plant services. Canada is now borderline Communist. The next goal of the government is to take away the privately owned car and replace it with mass public transit. The method being used is to force people to believe that cars are destroying the world. That is bad for me because I like having my own car, and I work for a car company. Poor people have to take the subway and buses. It is not fair for some people to be able to drive wherever they want. Liberals will want to know where you are at all times, and also will want to be able to control where you go. That is the next step. In Canada, Communists are on the ballot. If they ever get in, there will be no more elections. Trudeau, our former Prime Minister was a member of the Communist Party of Canada, but he ran as a Liberal. They are? Another bombshell that needs some evidence. So, can you show that tax cuts have increased our revenue? Is this more supply-side dogma? Here is some of my evidence that proves you conservatives wrong, yet again: http://www.cbpp.org/3-8-06tax.htm

Believe me, I am not trying hard to dispel some of these myths, but here is another scholarly link that disputes your supply-side theory: http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/L-taxcollections.htm One foundation for a strong Democracy is an informed electorate. Imawhosure
So then, maybe Mountain will tell us............since I know he doesn't want any of our tax rates to go over the communistic level of an overall of 50%, what spending he would cut to get these new programs instituted. And oh, the termination of action in Iraq is not nearly enough, so you better have something more on the plate than that. Yep, what program(s) you gonna cut to fund all these wonderful ideas, or rather are you coming to us to pay waaaaaaaaay more? And also, show us what politician believes these ideas, and is willing to CUT the programs before starting any new give aways.
rn4
Last year, my income tax was $33,000. Add all other taxes. Multiply by the 33 1/2 years that I have been at Ford. Adjust for inflation. That is not counting what my wife paid. It comes to well over two million. Wow Canadian Autoworkers sure make a whole lot more than U.S. Autoworkers. I have 31 years in and most of those years were at 50 hours a week and I just barely made alittle more than 1 million, counting the jobs I had before Ford also. :shades:

That is not a lot when you have to pay over $30,000 in income tax so that someone else can see the doctor whenever he wants. Add to that provincial sales tax, goods and services tax, property tax, gasoline tax, and tax tax (that is where tax is added to the gross amount before another tax is deducted). There isn't much left that you can call your own. I know people who have a million dollars in the bank in RRSPs, until they try to take it out. Then the tax man takes a big chunk. What would be wrong with saying enough is enough? After an individual pays, say $15,000 income tax in a year, that's it. The cut-off point could be maybe $60,000. You pay tax at a 25% rate until you make $60,000, and then for the rest of the year you are tax free. Some people just collect benefits all year, and never pay a penny in income tax. That's not right. They should be put to work if they are able, and made to pay tax like everyone else. If they do not want to work, they should not be paid. Furious1Auto
Then take your banner off your posts as it is supported by "Issued by Single-Payer Action Network Ohio (SPAN Ohio)" Do you see the phrase "single-payer"??? You can't even manage your own account, don't think I'm going to change mine to accomodate you! I'm supporting the state wide social health care program because a democrat will hold office next, and The state program is better then the ones Obama/Clinton are proposing. If I have to carry the tax burden than I rather it be at a 5% administration cost VS. a 40% plus profit to the insurers. With the state run program they can offer the same coverage for 35+% less tax burden to the working man! Let's return to the glorious Rubinomic days when we had higher marginal tax rates at the higher levels and put that money to the benefit of the WHOLE country, not just the few very rich? How about we have mega-millionaire hedge fund managers pay a tax rate that is higher than the rate paid by their secretaries? How about if we do away with multi-million dollar subsidies to mega-profitable oil companies? How about if we close tax loopholes and crack down on off shore corporations who do not pay ANY taxes? How about if we curb all those ear marks? Like that bridge to nowhere mentioned by Sen. McCain. BTW - that idea came from a Republican - Sen. Ted Stevens. BTW - Has anyone answered MY question about why we constituents can not have the same medical coverage as OUR representatives? COMMUNISTIC? Who has a 50% tax rate? Who? Why do conservatives exaggerate?

Do you have any idea what this ill-conceived war is costing this country? "The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has estimated the cost of "prosecuting" a war against Iraq at up to $9 billion per month, on top of an initial outlay of up to $13 billion for the deployment of troops to the Persian Gulf region." As Senator Everett Dirksen (R - NY) used to say: “A billion here and a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking real money." Just imagine what good that kind of money could do for America. Is that another figure that came out of YOUR butt? Dude I don't need a spelling and grammar lesson from you, I got my point across and that is good enough for me. You can point out others mistakes out all day long, it still does not change the "fact" you are an idiot. $40% is the cost of gross revenue that insureres use to administer and advertise their product! Although this figure varies from insurer to insurer! I'm not a hypocrite, just choosing the the best of what is offered. You're really bad at debating. I mean if you had a message it would be easier to stomach your ranting. You still have not learned to use forum tools. I know you get paid per post, and consolidating your posts earns you less money! If I where paying for your services I would doc you for everyone that had not content, and you would wounder why you recieved a weeks settlement of $ .35! HYPROCRITE: Pronunciation: \ˈhi-pə-ˌkrit\ Function: noun Etymology: Middle English ypocrite, from Anglo-French, from Late Latin hypocrita, from Greek hypokritēs actor, hypocrite, from hypokrinesthai Date: 13th century : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings Let's see. You state that you are against a single-payer health care system yet you post a link to an organization that advocates a single-payer health car system. Sounds like a hypocrite to me.
