What Data has led you to Chicago? What about the New Crossover ( I think MLK or MLT) , Where is that going to be made?

Ford announced it was going to be assembled there. Chicago is currently doing upgrades to their plant to handle it.

No plant has been announced for the MLT.

Oakville will get the MKT, where the Flex will be built along side the Edge. Oakville will have four products to put it near capacity...Edge, MKX, Flex, and MKT.

You have to wonder what Ford is going to do with Chicago if products built there continue to sell so poorly. The Taurus X will be discontinued in a year or so, and Ford may be banking on next Taurus to sell well enough to keep Chicago busy. Chicago needs some other products. But nothing has been announced, and no concepts have shown up that would offer some hope.

The next Explorer is supposed to be built in Chicago. If the redesign of the Taurus/Sable is as good as the insiders say it is, Chicago should be ok with the Taurus, Sable, MkS, and Explorer.

I didn't hear that one since Louisville builds the present Explorer. You have to wonder what Louisville will get to replace Explorer. The Kentucky Truck plant builds Super Duty. Maybe a new Ranger for Louisville as Ford needs a small pickup with high gas prices.

So MTP is not going to get a new vehicle for a while huh?

Well, it could. All depends on the credibility of reports of a new Ranger AND the addition of an F-100. Here are a few possible scenarios:

1.

Chicago: Taurus, Sable, MKS, Explorer

Louisville: Closed

MTP: F-150, Expedition, Ranger or F-100

2.

Chicago: Taurus, Sable, MKS

Louisville: Explorer, Ranger or F-100

MTP: F-150, Expedition

3.

Chicago: Taurus, Sable, MKS

Louisville: Explorer, Ranger

MTP: F-150, Expedition, F-100

Louisville isn't closing:

I would be surprised if MTP got F-150 - I don't think Ford needs any more F-150 production capacity. There are a number of future products that Ford hasn't announced production plans for....
