Pioneer
Good luck....the Rouge isn't all that bad. I was there for a short while. It is no picnic, but it paid the bills!! I'd rather have AAI because of where I live. Almost 60 miles one way for me to the Rouge.

mulewright
Skilled trades flowback has been suspended/cancelled until Browning gets some details worked out concerning plants that have tradespeople in JSP, and the unfair advantage that creates. Heard he wants to have all jobs up for bid, seniority rules, and no benefit of being in JSP because all of our plants are closing. Our plant has been closed for 8 months but we have an unfair advantage over people whose plant may close in the future???
Pioneer
Our plant has been closed for 8 months but we have an unfair advantage over people whose plant may close in the future??? I am just reporting what I have heard, and make no mistake about it. My plant WILL be closed by years end. Only 50 people are rumored to be working in my plant after summer shutdown, out of 900 now. All that should be done is the contract should be enforced the way it is written. Details, What Details, just follow the Hierarchy. Jsp & Layed off Frist. Does Chuck Browing have the power to change the Contract ?????
Pioneer
Does Chuck Browing have the power to change the Contract ????? Contract? What contract? We have no written contract as of yet that I know about. Personally, I don't care. I could use a few months sitting at home collecting 85% while doing a couple side jobs a week. :happy feet:

MSP Worker
I believe he is speaking of the "Contract" that we ratified. They listed the order for job placement with JSP ahead of the ACH people. If they change it now it is basicaly down to corporate senority. If that is the case we should be able to bump out lower seniority people instead of being forced out at 85%. They either have to go with corporate seniority or with what was agreed upon. I do find it a little fishy that this comes up now. We were not allowed to bid for out of zone placement while some of the ACH plants were. Out of zone is out of zone period. I know we had several people that were willing to go to KC but were not allowed to put in for it. What they need to do, or should have done, is make a policy and stick with it. If Ford and ACH are seperate then follow the order listed in the contract. If not go to corporate seniority and let us bump into jobs instead of forcing us out on 85% and having lower seniority people working. I know myself and my family have ben basicaly held hostage here for 8 months. I'm glad Bill and his family can go see American Idol while I have no idea where I am moving or where my kids will go to school or even when I can try and sell my house. The people up north(both sides) have no idea what it's like with having a move held over their head for 8 months and counting. I just want to work period! They have no idea what it is like to be in our shoes. They just pull in their 6 figure income or better and think we should be happy sitting around in the dark with no idea of what comes next. I have said this before and I will say it again. Every member of management at our plant that is staying with the company were placed long before any bids or flowback sheets were ever posted. The only people the suits care about is management. We are just bottom feeders to them. YOu will not convince me otherwise. For the record I am Machine Repair
whereswaldo
Our plant has been closed for 8 months but we have an unfair advantage over people whose plant may close in the future??? Personally I don't see any diff between a plant like Monroe and yours. It is an advantage if seniority means anything. You guys having a JSP means you will get nearly every offer out there. If Monroe has no JSP, they get leftovers or in trades case, no postings. So they wait til they close to step up in the hierarchy. Both your plants are closed or closing. They should be treated the same IMO. The union/Ford made this process a lot more involved than it need be. As far as following the rules they themselves created, well....this wouldnt be the 1st time that right is wrong and wrong is right. Hang on its going to be a helluva ride...... Well said MSP, I agree 100%. It still baffles me, how quickly this Black and White contractual language turns into meaningless Grey B.S. . For Christ sake, why even put this crap in the contract if the Union had no intention of following its own placement hierarchy. I'm so tired of this shit. Just when I think there might be a little light at the end of the tunnel, some high ranking Union official decides that part of the contract isn't suiting his buddies all that well, so he feels the need to "look into the matter further". Apparently Wixom Assembly Plant has No high ranking union "Champions", or If I'm mistaken, and we really do have people fighting for us; then they must be the only ones downtown, that posses any semblance of ethics. Either way, it seems that us Wixomites are F*CKED. Edited April 10, 2008 by mrballsonya

At MSP we were closeing and alot of people were still working. The Company would not allow one from each trade to go in to GEN at that time. To be able to get the job openings. We missed out on alot of good job openings at the time. We were not treated the same nor was AAP NAP EAP and so on. So now we want to Change the Rules becuse some people close to CB dont like them. This realy STINKS. Look we had to wait our turn in line. Now it should be yours. But if CB wants to change the Rules. Than we should go to CORPORATE SENORITY!!!! I would love to bump all the lower senority people at DTP and suck up all that over time that they are getting in the trades. And yes all the trades were getting all the over time that they wanted. That is why they got so little people in the trades to take Buy Outs. We met alot of 30+ 40+ years trade's people.

Even if that was the hierarchy, I think it stinks. I mean if you guys, all of ACH, Wixom, Minnesota, are closing(or sold), then empty these plants out according to sen. It seems stupid to have so many plants closing so close in time to each other but everyone not having the same opportunities. This is only my opinion. And yes I agree with Corporate Seniority. Its plain jane. Easy. So hard to cut hogs if seniority is the only basis for this.

Within the Hierarchy we have now, and the unprecedented closings and consolidations we now face, IF everyone does not receive every offer available for every job opening at every ford plant. Then when the dust settles, we will start over, with seniority employees displacing younger workers as the process continues. OR the UAW will fail to force ford to honor seniority and those left will be left out in the cold.
