For all the lazy bitches here:

And they're still using the same butt ugly steering wheel.

Eh, the steering wheel is one part I DON'T mind. But Ford NA really needs to borrow a compass or protractor from their FoE designers so they can figure out how to design a center stack with a CURVE on it somewhere....ANYWHERE!!

I sure hope those door panels have more padding in them, that e-brake has some sort of leather looking vinyl covering the part where the boot meets the center console, the seats have a power reclining seat back and the rear console has vents for the rear occupants. I aint holding my breath on some of it though.

Anyhow it looks more in tune with other modern vehicles. Not as busy as the Accord, not as flimsy appearing as the Malibu. It appears to be a solid B+, that is unless Ford has some tricks up their sleeve.

I think it looks good. What are your thoughts, pscario, other than the use of the "ugly" steering wheel.

Like Nick said, it's really bland to be honest, and this is the top of the line trim.

They could've changed a lot more, keeping the main theme relatively unchanged was a mistake, it limited them a lot and, lets face it, the old interior wasn't such a good foundation to begin with. Now the gauges just don't seem to flow, they look out of place with the rest of the dash. They should've given it the Milan's gauges instead. The interior falls short of the exterior again, that huge LCD was wasted since it doesn't add anything to the dash visually, unlike this for example:

IMO, that LCD panel will be the dominant element in the 'cockpit' area. I'm not sure I like that the horizontal trim piece is no longer continued to the left of the steering wheel, but I also live about 800 miles from the nearest toll road, so that teeny bin on the L. side of the steering wheel would be pretty useless. The design is functional and 'Teutonic' which carries over from the existing Fusion, and unlike some here, I don't consider that to be a flaw.

Looks pretty good to me. The new center stack and switchgear are big improvements. The steering wheel has the same satin trim as the Milan, I guess Ford will no longer give Mercurys extra trim pieces to differentiate them from the Fords.

This is sadly half-hearted, the design is extremely sloppy and ill-fitting. I would liked to have seen changes to the door panel, particularly the door pull which always looked like a barf tray to me. The recessed trim surround around the display reminds me of an old 1984 TV set. And once again, the contols are placed far too low on the dashboard.

so, by saying ill fitting youve had hands on with a PRODUCTION car yes?

Umm it's a pre-prod unit. What were you expecting?

I'm speaking of the design itself, not the quality of its construction. The design at this stage is set, materials will change. Specifically, I dislike the unresolved lines and trim pieces and the way they intersect with the new center console. And of course, as I indicated, I can't stand the display trim surround. Ford is still struggling to keep up with the competition on the Fusion and I don't see the competitive changes I'm looking for.

The size of the display may make a big difference in terms of competing with other models, even if the Fusion interior overall is inferior to cars like the blockbuster Malibu.
