TMS user gives new look at the 2010 'Stang interior

 Where is the center armrest? It is a step backwards in my opinion without it. Is the dash top still hard black plastic? What I do not like about the current Mustang is the hard plastic door panels and dash top. I also prefer the dash match the rest of the interior. I am not planning on replacing my '06 GT for what I've seen of the '10.

Leather padded dash and door panels are optional on current mustangs; at the very least I'd presume they'd be available on the new ones. The door in this picture looks like it has leather padding.

The IP is not hard plastic anymore so I do not see it being wrapped in leather. There will be leather inserts in the door panels on some models.

I told you guys the door panels were an evolution and steps ahead of the 05-09 door panel in design. Although it is still the same material. I love them.

Haha, too funny Moosestang. Unfortunately for you and your sarcasm, I was responding to wildosvt since he works for Ford (or a supplier) and seems to know something about the IP and door panel materials.

Yes basicly the same material on the doors. It has a more upscale feel to it overall though. Looks killer IMHO.

Moosetang, Go sit in a corner. :shades: :stirpot:

It seems that a center armrest would be a good idea. It isn't hard or expensive to even make it a height/ position adjustable type either.

I like the top of the dash as is though.

Um..... will the next Mustang's map pockets in the door be able to ACTUALLY hold maps? The 05+'s map pockets are ~5% too small to hold your average map! DUH!

would you prefer a wood dash? tell me what car doesnt have plastic dash or door panels? silly statement! the new interior smokes the old interior. I would trade my 06 gt in a heartbeat for an '10 gt, espeacially with the nav. system and rear view camera.

Maps=free (AAA), Nav Radio~$1500

Not everybody is so lucky to be able to afford a nav radio.

And Ford should consider all the details!

sorry! i was kinda joking about that one! it is a very nice system with the sync system. ford definitely put more detail into the interior in the'10 model. i've driven the car and am very impressed. the center console is very similar to the new camaro in reference to the armrest comment. there are few options that you find only on upper end cars.

the seats are also a big improvement! too many complainers on this forum for not knowing what the hell their talking about! wait and see before bitchin!

i agree...have to wait until january 26ish or so...then let the bitching commence which will help RJ stay busy...from what appears the 10MY is far and away way ahead of what we have now

In material quality only.

No, too many trolls like you, I see you've never been in an 05+ Mustang, the seats while being comfortable, lack side bolstering especially in the shoulder area where there is none. I've driven the car on a race track, and been in friends cars on mountain roads, the car is capable of generating some really high g forces, and it needs good seats to keep you from flailing about the cabin. I don't know of any other performance car that uses such flat, un-supportive seats. It wouldn't be so bad if you could just bolt in some aftermarket seats, but the side airbags are built into the seat.

So I suggest you take your own advice.. :finger::finger::finger:

I see the same seat that's been used since 05 in the lowly V6, so STFU.

No, I would not prefer a wood dash in a Mustang. What I was talking about is the HARD plastic on the doors and dash top. My last Mustang (04) had padded doors and the dash top was a soft material of the same color as the rest of the interior. My 99 ZX2 had a very rich interior compared to either Mustang. I do not like the current trend of most cars having a black dash top. My Mustang has the IUP and the padded door inserts, but many do not.

I agree with you about the center arm rest, I believe it needs one (or at least a higher(?) softer one, from what pics show me). Did anybody notice that the center console angle/shape seems to follow the door armrest shape?

I do not like the current trend of most cars having a black dash top.

I think most are doing it because it reduces glare on the windshield....w/ a tan dash (or other color), there's a lot more glare than w/ a black dash top. Personally, I like that look, but to each his own.

The rear of the console is the same height as the old one. The only difference is that instead of having a 1" step down from the armrest cover to the cupholder, it flows down without interruption.

I am personally glad to see black contrasting surfaces on certain parts of the interior. It is a welcome relief from the monotonous and anonymous beige and gray we have been subjected to for the past decade or so. I also appreciate classic 70's style chamois and dove gray as opposed to fleet issue beige and gray.

Ok....I obviously don't know what it's like yet, but it appears like the center armrest is gonna be hard even if it is the right height, so it could at least use some padding (of course maybe it is soft?)

I too like the contrast look, but I prefer tan interiors with black inserts (or maybe lighter inserts, like on 04 Expys).
