Ford of Europe sales down 11.5%

BRENTWOOD, Essex, 7 October, 2008 – Ford grew its market share, compared with last year, by 0.2 percentage points to 16.1 per cent for the year-to-date, despite shrinking car and commercial vehicle markets.

 

Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) confirm that Ford led the industry in September with 55,625 registrations of cars and commercial vehicles. Ford car sales in September totaled 44,631 - 1,843 units more than its nearest rival. For the year to date this lead stretches to 16,017 with total sales for Ford of 264,455 units.

 

 

Ford's position in the more profitable retail car market is significant with Ford attracting almost 3,750 more private buyers than its nearest rival in September. This confirms the trend for the year-to-date where Ford has almost 20,000 more customers than the next manufacturer. Retail car buyers have given Ford a 12.8 per cent share of this market sector for the year-to-date – up a full percentage point on 12 months ago.

YEAR TO DATE UK

 

Last two months Ford UK have been breaking records when it comes to sales, like the fist time a Ford as not been at No1 for two months not seen since the late 1960's. Focus slipped from No1 down to No4 and the Fiesta moved up to No2 lets hope its a blip YEARS TO DATE UK wont look good.

You all so forgot to tell how vauxhal have been giving cars 3000-4000 pounds off and 0% loans all month and that is just the small car. The vectra has 7000 pounds of is this part of the country

A lot of fords success may hinge on this vehicle I beleive...and smack in a 2.0 or 1.6 eco with a 6 speed manual and pinned down suspension and we have a vehicle that is what the SVT Focus should have been like to begin with......

 

The SVT Focus was a fun car to drive, but mine was a total piece of shit...
