Questions about dvd player controls

I bought a Flex over the weekend. The car is comfortable. I like it. However, I noticed a couple things about the dvd system that do not follow the owner's manual:

 

1) The OM indicates the dvd player has three different control modes: locked,

local, and full. Pressing the 3 and 5 preset buttons only cycles between

locked and full on my Flex. Has anyone seen/resolved this problem?

 

2) The OM indicates the dvd player can be controlled from the front audio

system controls. I can select the dvd chapter with the seek buttons, but

I cannot pause/play with the big tune/pause/play radio control knob. Has anyone

seen/resolved the issue?

 

Note: I do not have the nav system, but I do have the Sony system and SYNC.
