45 year old Flex

Friday was my furlough day so I had some time to explore some Ford ads in light of the recent topics on the subject. I went to YouTube and entered "Ford Commercials" after about half and hour I found a ten minute compilation of Ford ads from the 1960's, One of the ads in this was about a 1964 show car called the Aurora. It had seating for up to 7, it had controversial styling and an onboard refrigerated cooler. The cooler some how could be used to heat food also.

Does all this sound familiar???? (Except for the toaster oven)

This morning I looked and looked for the ad again and could not find it. The title of the clip did not use the word Aurora so it did not return me to the clip in question. Searching "Aurora" did lead me to an excerpt from "Gues My Line" where the National Slotcar Championship was decided in a race narrated by none other than Sir Stirling Moss.(A convertible Mustang won)

Is anyone else aware of this Great-Grandfather of the Flex?

Interesting, I was going to ask for a link, but you said you couldn't find it again. It'd be interesting to see it.

Thanks. I liked the Cougar II.

The Aurora definitely has an interesting design....I'm not a big fan of it, but still the concept is cool. I thought the "navigation system" was funny. The sofa 2nd row was an interesting element as well.

mrichler Thank you so much for finding and posting that set of ads.

I forgot about the nav sys. I gues it goes to show that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

That'd be a big map to be rolled up in the dash, at least if it were to cover the whole US. I wonder if you had to change out maps? I hear it had a 'zoom' feature too......called a magnifying glass. :hysterical:
