SparcEE
Have to say when I worked on the program we engineering chumps were more than surprised of the schedule. However, it was never like we can't do this, but just making sure the decisions we made were sound and to reduce risk we always had an alternative backup plan. Less ankle bitters with the layoffs left engineers more time to do our job. Suppliers weren't too happy as we had less prototypes than normal = less marked up supplier costs, but surprisingly even with less prototypes it came together nicely. theoldwizard
The new Taurus is based on Ford’s D3 architecture ... Interesting. No reference to D32 or D4. Makes you wonder if they actually changed ANYTHING below the Top Hat.

RichardJensen
Interesting. No reference to D32 or D4. Makes you wonder if they actually changed ANYTHING below the Top Hat. Well the front subframe was changed pretty significantly with the '08 Taurus, and the IRS was almost completely revised for the MKS & Flex, so it's not like Ford had to change much for the Taurus. I think the shorthand around here 'D4', 'D32' or 'D3.5' refers to the current platform as improved from the '05 Five Hundred/Freestyle.
