RichardJensen
Wow. Inside line is staffed with geniuses.... What's this? The head of a major multinational corporation carefully choosing his words when answering questions from the press?? Such news, SUCH NEWS!! RichardJensen
I'm waiting for this item from Inside Line: Grocery shopper Eunice Gustafson purchases Charmin toilet paper. When asked whether she would buy Charmin again, she said, "maybe, maybe not." So there you have it folks, Eunice Gustafson HAS purchased Charmin toilet paper this time around, but she will not commit to buying Charmin again. jpd80
He said Ford is working to more effectively position Mercury with smaller vehicles that occupy the void between the mainstream Ford brand and Lincoln, which directly targets the luxury-premium market. "That's our plan — to continuously improve the Mercury and Lincoln brands," Mulally said. But after a little more discussion, Mulally felt compelled to reiterate: "That's the plan right now." Continuously improve Mercury and Lincoln brands - that sounds like a good plan to me.
battyr
Here is an idea, when the new Explorer comes out, bring out a new Flex a Mercury. I think the Flex has the higher level of class to fit into the Mercury environment. The Sports and Utility of the Explorer would appeal to the masses for Ford. jpd80
A Mercury versions of the Explorer has to be on the short list surely, the EB I-4 version aligns with the green image Ford is trying to cultivate.

jpd80
The only plan Ford has for Mercury is to plan for the next plan I would have expected to see some C-car announcements, Focus and Maybe C-Max or a Kuga based products. Maybe I'm jumping the gun, does anyone know if anything is in the works later on the show circuit?
68Cougar
There isn't a void between Ford and Lincoln; if anything, they overlap at some point. They should keep Mercury around just for this:
Roadrunner
Here is an idea, when the new Explorer comes out, bring out a new Flex a Mercury. I think the Flex has the higher level of class to fit into the Mercury environment. The Sports and Utility of the Explorer would appeal to the masses for Ford. I could agree with that but my hunch is that the Flex will be killed for the new Explorer.
