slortiz1
I have a 2006 Explorer and my RR back up light went out. I replaced this bulb, now my light on the instrument panel tells me "Check RR Lamp". I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but the same results. (using the same new bulb) Can someone help me here?

If the bulb is not the exact number, it can cause this. The resistance is different causing the light to come on.
slortiz1
I purchased this through Autozone, part# 921LL. The light works, just the light in the instrument panel stays on. Could it be a faulty bulb? Should I take it out and put it back/replace it?
akirby
You say you replaced the RR back-up bulb? RR lamp usually means the brake or tail lamp, not the back-up bulb.

The 906 / 912 / 916 and 921 bulbs are all externally identical and as such interchangeable, difference is candle power 906 = 6cp .. 912 = 12 cp etc. Pull the bulb on the other side and look at the number on it to make sure you have the correct bulb. You had a burned out back-up bulb which is not monitored so no message appeared. When you replaced the back-up bulb, either your RR brake light or tail light burned out. Replace it. The 2 are not connected except that you were doing work in the same area when you did the back-up bulb.
