Pioneer
Boy, that Freestyle mule shure has come in handy, eh? I highly doubt there will be a Lincoln version of the Explorer. More likely this is a engine cooling test mule for the next Lincoln MkX. Possibly the EB 2.0L.
lfeg
Could be. I have seen in print that the EB2.0 will be the base version in the next Edge. Boy, that Freestyle mule shure has come in handy, eh? BORG
Could be. I have seen in print that the EB2.0 will be the base version in the next Edge. This looks like the original MKT test-mule. Keep in mind that the Eplorer is in Prototype stage, not mule stage, so this is pretty dang old.
Pioneer
This looks like the original MKT test-mule. There is a number on the windshield. If you can find a picture with the number of the original MkT test mule, we can compare them.
PREMiERdrum
My guesses would be: 1. Cooling mule for upcoming MKS freshening, or 2. Early freshening of the MKT.
ausrutherford
I was told awhile ago that a Lincoln crossover could come off the explorer platform...and this seems to confirm it. Remember... Flex mules were Freestyle with a Flex front end MkT mules were Freestyle with a MkT front end Explorer mules had a lifted Freestyle with a flex front end See a pattern? A Lincoln based on the Explorer? That's the first I've heard of it. Interesting... So for crossovers in the Lincoln/Mercury showroom... Mariner and/or Lincoln Kuga (I'm still hearing that we'll see both) MKX Explorer-based Lincoln MKT Navigator

Blueblood
Isn't the MKT based off the Explorer already since they are all D3? Anyways, it's just the new MKX, well at least the baleen front clip was attached to a Edge/MKX body. On another note, I hope the production Explorer handles better than this test mule!!! RichardJensen
On another note, I hope the production Explorer handles better than this test mule!!! It's a mule. It could be they're testing an transmission/engine combo under a big fat payload.

Or how well the new upholstery material stands up to beer-farts under a big fat payload.
