I don't think the UNION looked out for the company it looked out for individuals instead of the masses and lost sight of the big picture playing the "US vs THEM" game. Without the company we would not have a job and it is the UNION's job to help protect the masses from unfair treatment yet work with the company to help secure a future for us all.

This is 100% true. The results have permenantely handicapped the UAW. WE was what the UAW/FORD was intended for. The escalation of UAW members to office and away from working distorted their brains. UAW leaders from the past were not this way. They were active, and had A BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY Approach to dealing with Company. They were willing to go to jail for their rights to be heard. The union has no fight now, and thats why its over.

No the Union is too busy rewarding the dog "F"ers that take frequesnt piss breaks, miss one or more days per week, go off on medical for imagined injuries and just generally get paid to not work.

The biggest thing going on in USA besides the Terror Fight is the Border Issue. Ford wants the Mexican Market. This will boost NA share. The USA has too many choices, and as we all know Ford doesnt offer that many products. Ford Market Share for the US will dwindle to 10% in the next few years. FORD is set up across the world to make up for the loss of USA. They r making a heap of money overseas. :titanic: :bowdown: WIlliam Ford or Jr 13.3 million dollar for 2005. He didnt even get his salary money. Ford is making a killing overseas. GEttlefinger gets 3% raise and we gave back ours, This IS LUNACY

I'm up for getting rid of my fords but I don't think I can bring myself to buy a foreign car and certainly not a truck. I guess since I won't need to get to work anymore I can sell them and not buy anything and just live off the food in the garden.

Unfortuately you are correct. Please keep in mind that the UAW has no choice but to protect these people. If they did not they could be sued by them. I do wish that something could be done with these people as well. Any intelligent ideas?

I received a phone interview for one of the jobs I applied for and during which they asked, "what company did you most recently work for?" When I told them Ford Motor Co, they informed me that the interview was over and thanked me for my time.

Why would Toyota hire former UAW members? Even if you are forced to be in the UAW Toyota can not take a chance and hiring you. This is unfortunate for the good workers.

In case anybody does'nt know they are the head hunting firm in Texas that Toyota is using to help hire for managers.

Anyway the interview went very well and at the end when the gentlemen asked me if I had anything else to ask I did and asked them point blank if Toyota would have any problems hiring ex-UAW people.

He said flatly NO, they know that if they want this type of specialized experience more than likely it will come from UAW workers and they just want to hire the best they can find because they are very serious about becoming #1 in the owrld and I believe they will do it very soon.

He did say the next step may take up to 6 months and their Job 1 isn't scheduled until Nov. 7th or 17th I believe, they will be on 1 shift to start out and up to full speed in March '08.

Also just last week Toyota announced that they are considering adding an another line to up production to 300k, and they oruiginally said eventually the SA plant will also make more than just the Tundra, possible their SUV's or similar....so that complex could eventually have 5,000 workers with another 2,000 at the 21 suppliers who will be right there on site.

They just had a big job fair yesterday down there just for them !

So im not sure what happened with your experience but I would'nt give up man !

Hell the Camry folks in Kentucky just got avg. profit sharing of $10k each !

Im excited about my future with Toyota because I really enjoy being in the field and I want to be with the biggest and the best.

I just hope and pray that these jerks at Ford dont fart around too long, face the inevitable, take us down to 1 shift and bring the buyouts.

Post your profile there. They are hiring for 3 specific positions....also keep in mind that some of the positions Toyota is hiring for states that they are for LOCAL SAN ANTONIO RESIDENTS ONLY...I was rejected for several because of that.

It's very similar to here in Hampton Roads but it really doe'nt get that cold in the Winter.

I lived in Houston back in 82-85 and I loved it !

San Antonio is the 8th largest city in the country and really exploding right now and on top of all that its a beautiful part of the country.

1.5 hours from Austin the capital. 3 hours to Houston. 2 hours to Dallas. About 2,5 hours to the Gulf

 

1 more thing.

TEXAS HAS NO STATE INCOME TAX( so figure that into your budget ) !!!

Lack of intelligence, no doubt. Taking a buyout and blowing some of it on a vehicle is pretty stupid, IMHO.

It really sucks that Ford, GM or ANYBODY has to close a US plant. And I feel real bad for ANYBODY that loses their job because of this. I really do, I'm not just saying it.

 

But, the reality is, Ford & GM employ more Americans directly or indirectly than ANY other car company. It pains me when I hear people say they will buy Toyota or any other foreign brand because Ford may build small cars in Mexico for export to US, Canada, and everywhere else in the world. We are in a global economy, and when companies like Ford and GM want to leverage their global connections, they are more un-American than Toyota? GIVE ME A FUCK'N BREAK! Why is it that if Ford builds in Mexico, it is bad. But, when Coleman (the people making all the cool camping stuff) moves their manufacturing overseas, no one cares? In fact, go to Wal-Mart or Target and look at all the so-called "American" brands, all their shit is made in China. At least Ford & GM build most of their stuff here, even if it ain't cost effective.

 

So, if you believe that trading in your Ford for a transplant Toyota , Honda, or whatever is the best thing to do for Ford and the country, then go ahead. In the meantime, I will keep buying Ford's that fit my needs, regardless of where they are assembled".

He talked directly to Toyota. The head hunters are simply meeting a contract quota by bringing a number of qualified applicants for Toyota to review.

 

Closing NAP is a big mistake but in defense of "the jerks at Ford" their experience and training provided the qualifications necessary to apply for a managment job with Toyota. Good luck, sincerely

 

I hope someone at Ford reads these posts. By closing plants and eliminating American jobs they loose more than can be seen on a balance sheet (not to mention the impact on those families). Ford is loosing a work force of thousands of experienced, skilled people that cost millions of dollars and years to assemble. What's even worse than the loss is that those people are going to the competition where they will bring all of their skills against Ford. Of course Ford sometimes offers education buy-out money, they want people to get out of the car business, not going to work for the competition.

YES, The company was sunk by the captain, first mate, and other officers and deck hands on the ship. :titanic: :titanic: :titanic: + that is a uaw/ford issue + No buyout means keep getting that paycheck for at least 34 months while getting ready to go to work for competition, San Antonio or California, Fords brightest are looking to moving forward with Toyota/lexus/scion. When you figure no state income tax you also need to look at the property tax structure. They are allmost twice the rate of Mi. (in the berbs) and if you live in S.A. they are twice. The cost of everything else is about the same. You trade high elect bill for no heating bills. on and on. So if your a two wage income family you can count on a pay cut. Their houseing is cheaper but you have no basements for storage, very little insulation and basically storm windows instead of normal. Their schools are filled to capacity so be careful when buying a home because your kids might get bussed. Otherwise the people are cool except to Piston fans and now Dallas mavs fans. The area is booming and if your going you better find a place soon. Prices are going up daily!

 

Just seen a bumper sticker on a 05 F 150 "My nexy truck will be a TOYODA". Its allready started, good by Louisville, Yes I know they do 250 but with the addition of 2 to 300,000 new trucks something at ford will go bang. Also look out Wayne, Mexico will get your lunch money and you will end up like Wixom. OLd outdated product.
