rnj
When traveling long distances in 80- 90 degree weather the a/c system stops blowing cold air. The air is cool but definitely not cold. If i turn off the car & a/c for a few minutes and then restart the air is cold again for a while. on an 8 hour trip to atlanta recently i had to turn car off about 5 times to get the cold air. Any suggestions???
ExpeditionNavigator
The evaporator core is icing over, reducing airflow so that only a little comes out. When you turn it off, the ice melts and then it works OK. There is a slightly higher setting thermistor that greatly reduces the frequency of the problem. You don't have to break open the A/C system to install it but get as much of the old grease as possible on it to insure good contact. http://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/tsb.php/m-F...N/y-2003/t-0459 and http://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/tsb.php/m-F.../y-2003/t-16366 and http://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/tsb.php/m-F.../y-2003/t-17356 are probably the TSBs that deal with it, although the link I gave you has no detailed description so I'm not sure. I suspect that the third one is the one with the final solution.
