2008 Ranger XL Dome Light Does Not Work

Just purchased a 2008 Ford Ranger XL, 4cyl, Auto; pretty basic truck with 20,400 miles on odmeter and 20 months left on the power train warranty. Picked it up Wednesday, drove to work for first time on Thursday. Last night went to move it in the driveway and noticed the dome light did not come on when the driver door is opened. It does come on when the passenger door is opened. When I open/close the driver door (without latching) I can hear a "click" that sounds like it's coming from the area around the glove box. Also noticed the '08 doesn't have traditional door buttons for activating the interior lights. Not sure where the relay or switch is located. Need to get a Haynes book to track it down unless someone can advise. Understand it may be part of the latch mechanism. Dealer will fix but trying to get them to at least split the cost since I've only had it one day but "used" is "used." At the same time the air bag dash (warning) light illuminated and stayed on for the engine cycle. Didn't come on this morning; maybe an intermittent thing. Big concern is straightening out the dome light mystery. Any advice is appreciated.

Took the truck back to dealer and they are doing the repair no cost to me. I was hoping at least they would split the parts and labor since the truck only has the mfg power train warranty left. Happily surprised they are taking care of the complete repair. Seems the switch is part of the door latch assembly. Go figure; especially the truck has manual door locks. Cheers.
