Sherminator98
http://www.thecarcon...drive?fbfanpage The results The top-ranked brands in this year's Car-Brand Perception survey are: Safety: Volvo (head and shoulders above #2, Ford) Quality: A three-way tie between Toyota, Honda, and Ford Value: Ford, followed very closely by Toyota Performance: BMW Environmentally friend/green: Toyota Design/style: Cadillac Technology/innovation: Mercedes-Benz In overall brand perception, Toyota landed at the top of the heap, followed at a respectable distance by Ford. Honda, Chevrolet, and Mercedes-Benz rounded out the top five. The worst-perceived brand? No prizes for guessing Saab. Duking it out for the next-worst spot, we find Fiat, MINI, and Mitsubishi locked in a three-way tie. Land Rover landed only slightly higher. Surprised at how bad Mini and Fiat rated LOL Edited January 25, 2012 by silvrsvt

blazerdude20
I do care what car i'm driving when i buy a new one. But, right now i'm in debt pay off mode so i drive an accord that i don't personally enjoy driving. But hey, sooner i pay off student debt the sooner i get an f150 lariat! :shades:

I even care if it is a rental. LOL A couple of years ago they gave me a Honda Civic and I took it back the next day and ended up with a Mustang. This was in California and the Civic felt gutless on the freeway. Even though it was the old 4.0 V6 Mustang it still felt powerful compared to the Civic and a Grabber Orange Mustang just looked a lot cooler to drive on vacation! RichardJensen
My brother rented a Mustang convertible and drove from San Fran to SLO along California 1 a few years back. -- Also, I think it's telling that Cadillac lands first place in style/design, yet the brand seems to have prioritized performance over style on the ATS. RangerM
I care about my rental insomuch as I usually try to get something I've never driven before. I drove a 2012 Fusion with about 15,000 miles last week in Utah. I accidentally turned on the dome lights while trying to adjust the dash brightness and had to whip out the manual to figure out what I'd done and how to turn them off. It did have a squealing right rear brake which seemed odd for a vehicle with such few miles, but I also don't know how hard those miles were. It was an excellent vehicle overall; one that I wouldn't mind owning if I were in the market for a 4-door midsize car. (although I'd avoid the Sync it was equipped with). I have it in my 2012 Fusion SEL and really like the abilities it has.....when I use my cell phone, I will sometimes use my ear piece and it reads "In privacy" in the display...all the functions work and I have a USB thumb drive with my music downloaded to it so when I grow weary of Sirius, I flip through some of my favs... ADD ON: And yes, I do care about what I drive...it will stop being a Ford when I step up to Lincoln..... RangerM
Why avoid Sync.....? The SYNC in the car I was driving seemed to get hung up. On a couple of occasions the radio just stopped working (no sound, but apparently able to change stations). Don't know why this happened, but to get the radio to work again, I had to turn the car off (not just the stereo). This solved the (no) sound problem; like I was rebooting a computer. I don't have bluetooth enabled on my phone, so I don't think that was it. Just a ghost in the machine, as best I can tell. Did the wheels stay on? Yes. BORG
I'm fiercely loyal to Ford/Lincoln. But recently, my '11 Ford Edge spent two weeks in the shop after being towed off the road due to a power steering malfunction (hose failed). Took a LONG time to get the parts in, and since it was last minute I ended up with a Dodge Caravan...no Fords to rent out. Unfortunately, the Edge landed back in the shop today because the hose failed again. Again, last minute after-hours tow and they wanted to give me a Dodge Avenger. They managed to find a Ford Fusion this time after I pitched a fit. The Ford left me stranded twice, but I still insist I have a Ford. I have to send the MKX to the shop as well for a leak in the AWD system, but I'm promised another Lincoln loaner. BORG
Hey, with EPAS, that's no longer a problem! That did occur to me, of all the parts to fail on the car, the one chassis holdover they couldn't replace with the last update breaks on me You have an Edge and an MKX? Yessir! Both Tuxedo Black and fully optioned. Love these cars, but REALLY bummed by what is happening with the Edge...this is getting to be very stressful because getting the part the first time took two weeks. Of course I'll be driving the MKX and not the Fusion. Edited January 26, 2012 by BORG
RichardJensen
I'm smiling at your pain, because it took two weeks to get a part to a dealership that's what? No more than fifteen miles from Ford WHQ? That's funny. I mean, in an ironic and amusing as opposed to mirthful fashion.

It's absolutely baffling to me, the car is still in production...I told them they need to call that factory and get them to FedEx the frieking part...but they said that they have to work through the supply chain and they were sorry for the inconvenience. Gah, it has been a miserable experience, they didn't even wash my car after they had it sitting outside for two weeks. I absolutely love that car and it just ruins everything when I see it on a flat bed and I'm driving a frigging Dodge home. BORG
I've never had an experience like this actually, I've always had next-day repairs for any warranty work. The only time I had problems was when my '07 MKX had a leak in the PTU (Power Take-off Unit for the AWD system), which was a known TSB and none of the replacement parts were solving the problem. It ended up taking over a year before a new part was design and ready (my mother's '07 MKZ also needed a new PTU). Annoyingly, the AWD system in my '11 is also leaking (slowly)...but this time in the rear diff. Edited January 26, 2012 by BORG
Extreme4x4
In the future, just have a power steering hose made for it. It is done quickly, and you are on your way. It is just a hydraulic hose. Plus, the quality will be just as good as the factory one.................. or possibly better, considering the problems you have had. Clearance issues in the engine bay need to be addressed. Either the hose is rubbing on something, or there is a poorly attached high pressure fitting that is leaking. Since you got another bad one, it would seem they got a bad batch. Really, a power steering hose should never put you out of service more than 1 day, usually less.
