Sherminator98
Is the pricing on 2013 Escape set in stone yet? Reason I ask is I was slightly shocked at the pricing vs the current Escape my GF has. She has a 2010 Escape XLT AWD, V6, cloth seats, Sun roof, and Rapid Spec 202A...I think the sticker on it was like 27K or so on it back then I spec'd out a 2013 Escape SEL AWD with the Ecoboost 2L I4, Equipment Group 302A, Panoramic Sunroof, and navigation...and they are listing at 36K...or nearly 9K more then the old model that she has! I understand that prices go up, but outside of the Nav and the Panoramic Sunroof (which is 1K more option then the Moon and tune option her Escape) I'm more or less flabbergasted that there is another 7K upcharge on the Escape above and beyond that...with out that much more in content on the car (from what I can tell by using Edmunds site)

I just spec'd out both with leather seats and it was $29K for the 2012 and $34K for the 2013 or $5K difference, not $9K. And it is all preliminary and can change hour by hour. Bryan1
I just built a Titanium with AWD, 2.0 EcoBoost, with every option except trailer tow ($395) and panorama roof ($1395) and the total price was only $33,910.

I still feel this is a lot of money for their "small" SUV. A big part of what makes current Escape so popular (and such a big seller) is the price. Granted it is a decent vehicle but I don't see the new one being worth a full $5-$7K more than the current. I believe this will hurt their sales and I as an owner of the current edition of the vehicle will think long and hard before pulling the trigger on a small SUV at $33K+. You're comparing a popularly equipped Escape with a few features to a loaded one. A 2009 4x4 F-150 XLT extended cab with a 5.5ft bed would be like $12,000 less than my 2010 Raptor, what a huge price increase in only one year! timf
The SE is the equivalent model to the XLT. The SEL is comparable to the current Limited, while the Titanium is mainly an appearance package upgrade to the SEL. I wonder how much longer this variable pricing will go on for. People are already submitting orders and production starts in just over a month, so you'd think Ford would be ready to lock down pricing. Isn't the base price largely unchanged? The higher pricing off fully-equipped models is thanks to toys and gizmos that weren't available on the 2012. Read through the 2013 Escape source book that Pioneer posted - even the base 'S' trim is nicely equipped (save for the lack of privacy glass). We heard this same complaint about the 2012 Focus, but apparently nearly 30% of February Focus sales were SEL or Titanium trims.

Yep - I was saying that AT BEST it's only $5K not $9K and even then I'm sure the 2013 had a lot more equipment - I just didn't bother going to that level of detail. Apples and oranges either way. akent1936
How do these prices compare with RAV4, CR-V and the like? Ford would have to stay in the same price range to be competetive, wouldn't they?

Ford would have to stay in the same price range to be competetive, wouldn't they? I didn't spend too much time on this but here's what I found comparing with similar features. The Escape Titanium has more standard features and better option packages than any of these. Escape Titanium $30820 CRV EX-L $28959 Equinox LTZ $32780 RAV 4 Limited $28404 The main thing the Escape has over these or any others is, it's a Ford and not a Honda, Chevy or Toyota. The old body Escape was pushing 35K loaded. You can't get the level of technology in much else for 30-35K like you can get in the 2013 Escape Titanium. You really get a high level of equipment for the money. I have priced several Fords many times with the same equipment. In the Explorer you get near 43-45K, the Edge 38-41K, and the Taurus 36-38K. Options I was pricing on all were FWD 2.0L Ecoboost, push button start, rain sensing wipers, sony audio system, BLIS system, rear camera, and moonroof. transitman
I just went to the Ford site and built my Escape and the price has gone up another $500. The price for a Titanium with Park Tech Pkg., in my zip code, is now $31865, $1000 more than when I locked in a price with the dealer. They're just done for market research purposes to gauge reaction and interest to different options at different price points. That's why they change. Once they switch over to the production website it will have the actual final pricing.

And that price will most-likely match the price transitman paid for his Escape, unless they have had some small increases in that time.
