ZanatWork
Nothing really new in that article, though Ford should consider any "B" cars it produces worldwide...if they can be quickly brought up to US crash/emissions standards, it'd be something to get by on 'til the other programs get done. NickF1011
Well that sure said a whole lot of nothing. :blah: I did love this contradiction though: "Many vehicles planned for the 2007 to 2010 model years are aimed at sinking segments, such as SUVs and pickups." Then the very following sentences: "Far off on the horizon are three B-segment vehicles that will likely get 40 miles or better per gallon. Two of them are penciled in for the 2009 calendar year." mrjones944
Sounds like Ford is out to lose more market share
igor
the most important piece in the article is that FOrd might import some vehicles from its other divisions .... besides that - all old new, wrong, or too conservative in estimates . ANTAUS
I agree, this article was alot about nothing actually. It's not reporting anything that we don't already know. Knowing is one thing, action is another. As it stands, Ford needs a major product push, so NOW is the time to make decisions on pulling a "B" segment vehicle sooner, 2010 won't cut it. As much as Ford brags on all this super computer BS, and how it cuts engineering time, it's of no good use if they can't make decisions, and most importantly, stand by them. kevinb120
Market share is nothing, profit is everything. Building B cars that do not make a proffit is pretty stupid. If they make profit while lowering the price $6000 on Expeditions with more standard features, that makes sense. Building 300,000 rental taurus's a year and selling them for cost did nothing for the companies bottom line.
