boppergee
Hey guys,I picked up my 2013 titanium last night and it is AWSOME.Coming from a 2002 focus station wagaon,it is like a caveman seeing porn riding in an airplane.WOW! I have one small issue, which may be something I'm just not used too, and in a week, probably wouldn't think twice about.I'm use to the speedometer being in the middle of the instrument panel with large numbers and now I have a much smaller numbers to focus on and it's to the right.I find I have to actually concentrate to see how fast I'm going,as opposed to doing a quick glance.I tried changing the center LCD to show the speed but that appears not to be an option.(I'm still trying to figure everything out)To all the other owners out there... Was this an issue for you as well?

You have to put the display in test mode and it will stays in test mode until you shut the car off and restart. It's a cool function to check out, here's the procedure: *On the steering wheel controls on the left. Hold OK Button and the Right Arrow button at the same time for about 5 secs. *Start the car and continue to hold steering control buttons until test mode starts. *Use the left control arrow up and arrow down buttons to scroll through the various test displays. *To return to normal operation, shut down and restart car. NickF1011
I had to do the opposite adjustment when I got my Edge and going to a huge center-mounted speed with the 0 MPH at 6 o'clock. It didn't take long to adjust though. Glad you're liking your new Escape!
LSchicago
No issue with the speedo at all, only major annoyance is the Blis/parking sensors on OVERLOAD. These were not designed for city driving! For a road trip it would be great, in the city (Chicago) they just won't stop beeping and we have to turn them off everytime we drive it. Sitting at a light with cars stopped on both sides causes a constant beep. In light traffic it's fine, in heavy traffic it needs to be turned off. Every little beep lowers the radio volume too, which is very annoying. Other than this, we love the 2013 TI.

I have to turn off the parking sensors whenever we go through a drive-up window, or stay so far away from the building we can't reach. Small price to pay, imo. As JoeIndy said, I think your beeping is caused by the front bumper sensors. The blis is only turning on the lights within the mirrors.Atleast that is what's happening on mine. The Blis works incredibly well. I took note when cars are passing me that the lights turn on when they leave my field of view in the mirrors.I'm impressed with it.

Could very well be the rear sensors too, because it still beeps when we are at the front of the line.

boppergee
Your right transit, the speedometer doesnt phase me anymore.. Another question to the group.. What is the purpose of the wifi connection? I set it up to my router while in my driveway, but what did I gain from doing this?

NickF1011
Until they get the web browser enabled - not much. I wonder if the wifi allows mapping to the storage in the vehicle for transferring wallpaper images? Seems kinda pointless when you can accomplish the same thing with a flash drive. Speaking of which, this is the new wallpaper in my Edge: Looks just like mine. :shades: Edited August 14, 2012 by NickF1011
JoeIndy
My impression was that the rear sensors only go off when in reverse. Rear sensors only activate while in reverse, and are a lower pitched tone. The front sensors are in use anytime the vehicle is under a certain speed (5 mph?) and are a higher pitched tone. They might even come just from the front speakers whereas the reverse tones come from rear speakers. The front sensors aren't just straight ahead. It's also to both sides on the front of the car -- Think swinging into a parking space.
JoeIndy
Until they get the web browser enabled - not much. There are a few devices where it can share the cellular data plan to the entire vehicle. It's a nifty feature that'd be great if it supported a broad range of USB Broadband devices ... but it doesn't. So it sits there doing absolutely nothing for most people. That's the wi-fi hotspot feature where the car becomes a wi-fi hotspot for other devices using a 3g or 4g data connection. The OP was asking about the feature to connect the vehicle to another wi-fi hotspot which would only really be used by the mft web browser which isn't available yet.
