OHV 16V
I know it doesn't make financial sense to do right now, but man, do I miss these cars! This modified GT is a beast! http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2012/10/29/performance-power-racing-ford-gt-sets-283-mph-standing-mile-record/?intcmp=features
jcthorne
Absolutely amazing that an 8 year old Ford design is still setting world speed records. Italian for dinner?
Moosetang
A good design is a good design, and the GT is prett-ay prett-ay good.
Edstock
The design continues to be worked on: RH Motorsports to produce street-legal Ford GT racecars
92merc
What I find amazing is that Ford built this engine/trans combo with what, 500hP stock? And these guys are pushing both to 1700HP with little re-inforcement to engine or drive train. Those parts were way over built, not that it's a bad thing. Captainp4
I believe the 5.4 came with a forged crank even in the trucks. The mod motors are certainly beef on the bottom end.
kstwister
Absolutely amazing that an 8 year old Ford design is still setting world speed records. Italian for dinner? Beautiful isn't it! Crazy part is the GTs were designed in the 60s amiright?!?!? That's a 50+ year old Ford design, albeit with modern styling tweaks, still out there kicking some high speed ass. The Ford GT, while it looks similar, is a completely different vehicle, body-on-frame, as opposed to the GT-40's monococque tub chassis, and is some 3" taller than the original. While it looks similar, IIRC, the Ford GT's designer did extensive work on aerodynamic stability a high speeds.
