Bob Rosadini
New England Ford dealers have been running an ad recently pushing commercial trucks. And the opening shot actually has a 650/750 that looks like it is pulling a tag with equipment on it. I'll have to pay closer attention. Someone in marketing must have missed the message that " we don't push class 6/7 trucks"!
Joe771476
I think I posted this a few years ago, but what did we determine regarding Truck 417? I know Mack used the C-series cab for one of their cabovers using 4 headlights. The front sheet metal looks like a Ford, but look at the grille and the side sheet metal. Very strange! I guess up in Canada they don't abide by silly rules like saying a truck has outlived its usefulness after 20 years! Although I think New York keeps its trucks a longer time. And even if you consider the electrical (including wiring itself) and hydraulic (ladder) systems, diamond plate, steel, aluminum, paint etc., a fire truck shouldn't cost $1 million! But it's like selling apples for $1 million a piece. All you have to do is sell one! And since they don't sell that many fire trucks, they're going to ask top dollar for the ones they DO sell! So in 2014, this truck was 55 years old! (571) Beauharnois Fire Dept. - Old Trucks Still in Service! 7Mary3
I doubt that ever was a Ford C series, I think it just has a few C series cab parts on it. The front axle is in the wrong place.

He's claiming Ladder Truck #417 is a 1959. That's debatable.

The front axle is in the wrong place. I did a search for Thibault on you tube..did not get to a corporate site but a few pix of C model fire trucks with the Thibault badge..also at least one GM cab over that was very similar to a C model. As for that aerial truck with the set back axle, looks like the 6-71 power was very accessible with side panels. If I had to bet, I would say these guys got a C cab and fitted it to a chassis they probably built. And given the 6-71 was in its own "dog house", there was no reason to make that cab tilt- just come up with a good system to make it fixed. And that is not to say that you could NOT put a big inline 6 under that Ford/Budd cab. Mack did it with the N model. If you didn't see the Bulldog and the "Mack " script you would think is was a Ford..until you opened the door. While the Ford feature a full width bench seat if you wanted it, the Mack had a big dog house where that 673 Mack "lived".
7Mary3
After looking at that truck, I don't even think Thibault used a complete C series cab, it looks like they may have used just the front panel and windshield. The doors look to be fabbed up. I'd wager Thibault just bought a few panels from Budd and made the rest themselves (and did a pretty good job of it). Probably -or they got a nice used cab and started "cutting to fit"-and for sure if you looked at grill they raised the cab as well. In any case a clever "mod" IMO. I wouldn't own a 2.7L F-150.

These are the kinds of design failures that those in dealership front of house (Sales Department, Sales Managers, etc.) never hear about unless a customer mentions the additional service costs. Bob Rosadini
LN with LTL Hood.htmlLN with LTL Hood.htmlJust saw this posted in BigMack website...currently for sale. I can't believe this is for real..if so someone did an unbelievable job fitting that LTL grill, shortened hood on an LN
7Mary3
I think the story is the truck has some aftermarket hood/fender assembly that looks like a short LTL hood. Looks nice, that's something Ford should have done.

7Mary3
It appears that Chevy and Isuzu currently are not taking orders for 2026 MY class 6 and 7 LCF's in CARB states as the Cummins 6.7L ISB is not 2026 CARB compliant yet. That could impact all the other medium duty OEM's that use the 6.7L, not to mention RAM. I have heard that Cummins is working on a CARB compliant 6.7L available but the new 'fuel agnostic' X10 does meet 2026 CARB standards as a diesel. I was just thinking the other day that I haven't seen more than maybe two Hino trucks here in CT in the last couple months, when a few years ago I would see 20 a day. I also hardly ever see a Mercedes Sprinter van. I see a ton of F650/750's and Transit vans though!
