2 tones for Lincolns?

Recommended Posts

What do you guys think if Lincoln brought back the option of 2 tone paint schemes? No one outside of Rolls Royce or Bugatti offers them anymore. If done right it could be a way to really stand out from the crowd. I personally LOVED the Mark V with the nautical-inspired Bill Blass blue & white color scheme so I did a quick mock up of an MKZ BB edition for fun. What do you think?

My dad had an '88 Town Car that was champagne on the hood, trunk and top and rosewood (dark reddish brown) on the flanks....that was a beautiful combo....you may be onto something here....I like...

Tacky. May as well through in a free disco ball with each purchase.

I would Like

-- "subtle" like the old LS400(#?) = good. As well as

-- "striking" like the Mark = Very good, tho too strong for many

but

--NOT the way most Panther 2tones ended up = why bother

&

frankly I don't trust FLincMoCo to

-- do it right, not just ANY styling works imho

-- KEEP doing it right

-- Keep it exclusive to Lincoln (if it has any success at all)

I'd be okay with that look. Definitely something subtle though.

Here's a couple more "classic" Lincoln designer series color schemes. I left off all the twin accent pinstriping, wire wheels, and carriage roofs.

&

from a comment on TheMustangSource,

maybe for a sport-model

BlackChromePaint + BlackLustrePaint(not really 'matte')? (neither are truly 'black' either, just very dark & rich).

could easily be done with 'chrome'/silver too

& maybe a blue and a red.

^all more one-color-2-finishes = subtle-but-Not

Damn!! I am really digging these creations....and the thing is...it can be recreated by most Lincoln dealerships right in their very own body shops....

Anyone know why outside of possible changes in taste, why painted two tone paint jobs went away? Seems like most cars from the mid 1970s till the mid 1980s had a two tone option. I remember some of them looking pretty decent like the older square Thunderbirds in blue and beige.

The closest you come to a two tone car these days is all the plastic on the lower cladding area....the Escape has a TON of it. I put some Adam's VRT on my parents Escape this weekend and I was shocked at all the grey plastic in the lower areas...it had more then my SHO!

I am honestly considering having a local body shop do up a two tone on my 2012 Fusion SEL ( factory color is Cinnamon Brown)...I am thinking a Champagne metallic top side...
