2013 2014 Escape Kuda Rear Spoiler

Received mine in the mail today. Happy with the product. It does include the 3m tape and there are 2 rivnuts included as well, which makes me feel better as I can install these and use the included tape for good measure. No template, but I can make my own to locate the 2 spots to drill. Instructions are in Chinese, so I had my Asian co-worker translate and it just says the usual stuff like "wipe down surface with alcohol before applying tape, blah, blah, blah. Now off to the paint shop. PS. in one of my pics it looks like the spoiler really curves up a lot on the back lip. it really doesn't, just my camera perspective.

Got it here:

Doesn't affect hatch operation or 3rd brake light. I'm happy with it, and we all know how 1/16" is not good enough for me. Its at the paint shop right now and might be ready tomorrow, which means pics by Monday. If you can wait, I will post install pics. Pictures of it on the Kuga below.

Finally got it back from the paint shop on Friday. And today was the first day it stopped raining and was above 65F. I do like it and I noticed they are on ebay now. Didn't use the 3M tape that came with it. It was maybe 10mil thick and to me just wasn't thick enough. Autozone had really good 3M molding tape that was like 30 or 45mil. Much better. Also put in the 2 bolts that came with it. The inside of the liftgate did NOT have knock-outs for the bolt locations, so I had to make my own. Ebay link.

Installed my Ebay spoiler today, LOVE IT!

How did the install go? Did you have 2 riv-nuts imbedded in the underside? Was your 3m tape too thin?

BTW, looks great!!

And a friendly reminder not to open your hatch when you have really long stuff on the roof rack.

install went great I did not put the 2 bolts in. I've installed numerous things on my cars in the past with just the 3m tape stuff holds like glue. I did buy the thicker tape as you suggested it was a lot thicker and I was more comfortable with that. really happy with the spoiler look so factory you can hardly tell that it's added on.

Got my eBay spoiler today. It looks great. Very nice quality. Now I just need time to install it.

Sweet. Just be sure it's warm enough outside. You might not have as much of a problem where your at. I had to park in the sunshine to heat up everything since it was about 55-60F outside. Be sure to post pictures!

I like the spoiler, but I am concerned that when it is taken through a soft cloth automatic car wash it will get damaged , ripped off. How far off the center line would the screws, if used, be located?

The 3M tape, when applied properly, is quite strong. The imbedded nutserts are very far apart. Like 15-20 inches off the centerline each.

The tape is more than you need to hold the spoiler on. you cannot physically remove one that is taped without the use of a heat gun or you can press 600 pounds over your head. :)

Lost one off my Jetta at the track not saying that's normal driving conditions but yes they can come flying off. It's all a matter of time and temp especially with tape
