"We believe investors are starting to conclude that GM's written the restructuring playbook for Ford," Nesvold said."We expect Ford to reemerge in September with a more aggressive turnaround," he added.Ford, which posted a second-quarter loss of $254 million and has hired an outside financial adviser, has said it will close 14 plants and cut up to 30,000 factory jobs to return its North American unit to profitability by 2008.The automaker has said it will announce details of an accelerated version of its restructuring plan by the end of September. Given GM's rise in stock price, Nesvold said he believes "investors will warm up in a hurry to a restructured Ford." Awww, yeah! Let's keep this thread alive...and maybe we'll be doing a little bit of this :party2: :beerchug: Edited August 15, 2006 by JM
fllcobra
I can only hope that the Edge and the MKX catch fire and sell, sell, sell. After losing thousands in company stock, it would be nice to finally shut those vultures on the exchange up for a little while.
Edgey
It's a great time to invest in Ford right now, although I would consider it a long-term investment. I expect 2007 to be a rough year, but I think deeper decline is improbable.
ZanatWork
At least 2007 will have all the mid-year upgrades to help bolster things. The refreshes on the Focus, Five Hundred, and Super Duty will generate more buzz than this year, where the summer's only news is the Shelby GT. RichardJensen
Somebody should tell the analysts at Bear Sterns and Merrill Lynch that the preferred means of taking money--at least among the penny stock swindlers--is 'pump and dump', not 'dump and pump'. JM
$8.17 it's still going :happy feet: Trading of Ford continued to drive the price of the struggling automaker's shares up this week, closing at $8.26 Wednesday. That's a whopping 36-percent gain since Ford bottomed out at $6.06 on July 21. The market seems to be anticipating announcements expected around September 18 by Ford management that plants will be closed more quickly and asset sales, such as possibly Jaguar and Land Rover, are in the offing. There seems to be mounting belief that even an unprofitable Ford is worth more than $6 a share, what with the combined value of its brands. -Jim Burt Edited August 17, 2006 by JM
RichardJensen
There is no sense to any of this. This is just whipsawing. Wait until the Sept. announcements fail to be as exciting as expected. Then will begin another period of gloom, despair, and hand-wringing, and share price declines.
