fordmantpw
Why? I'm all for HP, but geez, this is just getting ridiculous! You won't be able to harness near all of that without a set of drag radials.

Anthony
Press Release: Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Is The Most Powerful Muscle Car Ever -- 707 hp!July 1, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT, with its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat engine, produces an unprecedented 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, making it the most powerful Challenger ever, Dodge's most powerful V-8 ever and the most powerful muscle car ever. The Challenger's new 6.2-liter Supercharged Hellcat engine is also the first factory supercharged HEMI, as well as Dodge and SRT's first application of V-8 supercharger technology. For the first time in Chrysler Group history, the all-new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT with a Hellcat engine comes standard with two key fobs -- red and black. The red key fob is the only key that can unlock the full 707 horsepower and torque potential of the Challenger SRT Hellcat engine; while the black key fob limits the driver to a reduced engine output of 500 horsepower. In addition to the awe-inspiring 707 horsepower of the new Hellcat HEMI, the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has been redesigned and totally re-engineered to be the most true-to-form muscle coupe on the market with performance-enhancing technologies inside and out, including the new TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-new interior inspired by the classic 1971 Challenger. The Dodge and SRT brands now offer the most complete lineup of muscle cars in the market, including the new 2015 Dodge Challenger SXT with its standard powerful and fuel-efficient Pentastar V-6 engine combined with the TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission that delivers 300 horsepower and an estimated 30 miles per gallon; the 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T with the high-torque 5.7-liter HEMI now paired with the TorqueFlite eight-speed or six-speed manual transmission; and the all-new 6.4-liter HEMI Challenger Scat Pack that delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of torque with the TorqueFlite eight-speed or six-speed manual. The 2015 Dodge Challenger and Challenger SRTs are built at the Brampton, Ontario, Assembly Plant and will start arriving in Dodge dealerships in the third quarter of 2014. NickF1011
Needs the power to move that tank of a car, but hey good for them. Just wish they'd do something to visually distinguish it more from the other Challengers. What do we get besides more decals?
Anthony
Needs the power to move that tank of a car, but hey good for them. Just wish they'd do something to visually distinguish it more from the other Challengers. What do we get besides more decals?Different front fascia, hood has extra functional scoops, inboard front lights are hollowed out to be air intakes, taller rear spoiler. (there might be more )...About the same as most speciality hi-po versions of cars. To someone who is familiar with Challengers it looks different enough that you know it's a Hellcat. If you aren't familiar with Challengers then you wouldn't know that you are looking at a 707 horsepower car anyway. My wife couldn't tell the difference between a Mustang V6 and a GT500. akirby
I've heard that the Veyrons have a special 2nd key that only the dealer can activate to allow the car to go 200 mph+. The dealer must first inspect the entire vehicle to make sure it's safe before activating it. Can't imagine what that costs - then again if you bought a Veyron you really don't care. Didn't one of the recent special edition Mustangs have a special key to up the HP as well? That sounds familiar.

mustang let back
707hp is real nice,BUT the challenger is a tugboat. With that being said i believe it WILL NOT out perform the KING GT500 on the track or strip. :happy feet:
jpvbs
So is the red key not street/EPA legal? Or is the black key a valet key? 200hp is a huge difference for just a tune unless there is some other reason.
Anthony
The black key is for valet, lending to someone...etc. However, I wouldn't trust a valet even with 500hp. I think it should run it on 3 cylinders and restrict them to 6th gear. Red key is street legal. TopCat501
I thought Ford was going away from the GT500 and over to the GT350 (non-FI). Is there new rumors about Ford doing both now?
