It's not just Ford. Manual trannies are going away in mainstream cars for all manufacturers.

Guess i will be buying performance versions from now on....lol, anyone know when the ST Transit connect is being released?...lol

If you want one there are still some in the supply pipeline. I was just looking for that combo!

I wish they would combine it with the 2.5 normally aspirated 4 as in the old Fusion. Could be they are "creating" demand for an ST variant?

Creating demand? Doubt it. I don't think dropping the manual on a 180-hp engine will make folks want to buy a 300-hp variant just so they can say they have a manual.

That's a shame. My dad just bought one a few months ago with the 1.5 MT and he loves it. I liked driving it so much I was planning on getting one within the next few months. Oh well, I guess its back to the focus for me.

If its a 1.5L it is a Auto, you can't get a manual with it. (manual are all 1.6L)You should still be able to find a dealer stock unit with a manual in a few months. I just looked and there are more manuals than I thought there would be in stock.

And that's probably the reason behind Ford ending that option - slow selling?

Let them drop it. Small companies like Mazda are there to p ick up the scraps with 6 speed manuals ect..... They are now on my radar because of little things like this. Ford is not a damn bit better in any class than Mazda but they are bigger. That speaks volumes to me given what Ford has available with resources.

Preliminary details on the new Mondeo from Ford Germany's info is that the 2.0L EcoBoost 203hp and 240hp are offered only with the automatic 6F transmission.

The 1.5L EcoBoost is offered with both 6spd manual and 6F transmissions, and charging a EUR2,000.00 additional for the automatic :do what: That's almost 3 grand US$ more.

When less than 1% of your stock at hand are manual transmissions,

it's pretty obvious that buyers have made the choice long before Ford did.

IMO, Ford has gone above and beyond offering a MT to an indifferent market.

More like,

"I wonder what percentage of Fusion shoppers even know/knew/ cared that a 6 speed manual existed."

America is not Europe, buyers overwhelmingly want automatics... and not manuals or DSGs.

Agreed. I think for the vast majority it does not even enter their mind about a choice between the two. They have most likely grown up with each parent always driving an auto and that is what they know. If more people were exposed to driving a stick maybe the % would come up a few points. Pipe dream I know.

Again Sad. My son learned to drive a stick when he got his permit, drives one now and probably will purchase his next car as one. My younger son also wants to learn when he gets his permit. If I drove an auto it probably would not even be on their radar.

My son took his driver test on his stick and even the driving instructor (mandated in N.J.- don't even get me started on this bull****) tried to talk him out of it. He said "I wouldn't even take my test on one" REALLY! And your teaching my son how to drive? Well not really, my wife and I did that. He probably couldn't even drive one LOL.

Since when did they mandate driving instructors in Jersey? Some of my best memories are driving around in Point Pleasant and Seaside with my dad in the late winter/early spring learning how to drive his then mine 1986 Escort GT with a stick...I choked the first time I took the test (totally forgot to use my blinker for everything) but passed it with flying colors second time around.

Not sure, my son got his permit three years ago, so before that. My wife and I still took him around but to take your test you have to show proof you took lessons from an approved driving instructor.

Must be something with the graduated driving licenses they implemented about 10 years ago...it makes some sense, but I got my drivers license about 21 yrs ago LOL

I can see the logic since most people can't drive we don't want them teaching their kids. On the other hand with the number of kids in my sons grade who have gotten into accidents I don't see that it has helped that much, LOL.
