IMSA-XJR9
I know we don't talk FMC Racing all that often . . . . and I've been reading about a possible return to Le Mans for FMC (in some capacity) for a while, but the first quote below grabbed my attention this afternoon . . . http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/ford-exploring-factory-gte-program-prototype-options/ It’s believed the GTE project is centered around the latest incarnation of the Ford GT production car, which could launch for the 2016 model year and coincide with the 50th anniversary of Ford’s first overall win at Le Mans. A proposal for a Ford Mustang GTE car, built and developed by Multimatic, was shot down by top-level executives last year but talks have continued for the blue oval to have a significant presence in the production-based class with the yet-to-be-announced model. akirby
There is an ecoboost powered Daytona prototype now - is that one not eligible for LeMans?
IMSA-XJR9
No, the DPs aren't currently eligible, but I believe the motor is in LMP2. Edited July 14, 2014 by IMSA-XJR9
NickF1011
Multimatic has been very successful with Mustangs recently with the Boss 302R's in the Continental Tire Sports Car Series, so it's certainly not a new relationship with Ford Racing. Seems to be a very capable company if they should decide to expand that cooperation.
