dkoppes
Has anyone ever experienced any starting issues with a 2001 F-150? My co-worker has been having issues with his inconsistently starting. He's been able to start it and drive for a while, but once he turns it off at his destination, he has about a 50% chance that it will start again. The shop could not find anything wrong, and the engine is not throwing any codes. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. akirby
What's the symptom? My guess is a bad battery. When you start it but don't drive long enough to recharge it then it won't start. Have it properly load tested or if the battery is more than 3 years old just replace it.
theoldwizard
No crank, no start ? Crank, no start ?
fordtech1
Does it crank no start? Does the odometer go to dashes or theft light flash? I bet a possibility of 2 things. PCM relay or fuel pump. If odometer goes to dashes then PCM isn't coming on and needs a relay. If all looks normal but crank no start I would bet a fuel pump. fordtech1
As a matter of fact PCM relay and fuel pumps are so common. I always sell a PCM relay, fuel pump relay and PCM diode. Even if I put in a new fuel pump. It saves a second tow and diag cost.
dkoppes
I guess it does crank no start when it's acting up, so fuel pump is probably the issue. Fordtech1, I told him your suggestion and he is going to move forward with that. Thank you all for the help.
