Ford dangles $10,000 discounts on redesigned aluminum F-150 pickup

Recommended Posts

The $10,000 discount is not nationwide, apparently some areas are only getting $7000:

Ford Motor Co. has begun offering discounts that can exceed $10,000 on its new aluminum-bodied F-150 pickup, which has been losing sales and market share this year as the automaker works to build inventory on dealer lots.

The company's website offers "up to $10,029 in total savings" on a 2015 F-150 XLT SuperCab 4X4 with the luxury chrome or sport package in some U.S. regions.

That model comes with a discount of $7,050 in other areas, according to Ford.com.

I'm curious to hear everyone's take on this development. Is it simply Ford starting to compete with GM/FCA earlier than anticipated? Is Ford closer to inventory build out than previously thought?

I'm a bit surprised by this news; based on what I've been reading recently, I was under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that Ford would not have inventory built to "normal" levels until Fall, and thus would continue to pursue higher ATP's in the face of low inventory.

Edit: The story appears legit, I just checked Ford.com, and in my area, the total discount is ~ $9200, $7050 from Ford, and the balance is characterized as "dealer discount".

It would seem to me that this is more of a reaction to the fact that the Silverado was discounted $9275 (off MSRP) pretty much all of last month - at least in my area (SoFla) - and according to a TV ad that I saw last night during the local news, $11,000 + this month. Also saw GMC trucks at $9307 (kinda of a strange number, no?) advertised as a "Total Value" - whatever that means.

Could be just an area thing tho' as I have yet to see the new GMC P/U on the road and new Silverado's are few and far between. New F150's are quite common, on the other hand.

I can assure all here...theres no overbuild or over abundance of inventory...we CANT get the damn trucks, supply is an absolute joke, there is ZERO work inventory baring incoming Enterprize and fleet units...nothing for dealers. I have NO idea why ford has gone this route..theres no logical excuse barring stealing the limelight from competitors...THAT can be the only reason...my inventory in every engine/ wheelbase and cab configuration, I have MAYBE 10-15 units...max...Im scratching my head...also, theres probably only 3 or 4 people nationwide that will qualify for every single rebate...

Ford employee pricing is available to all customers. Ford Canada has been using this promo for quite sometime.

If you doubt it, check out ford.ca and find out for yourself
