AGR
http://www.motor1.com/news/61628/peugeot-and-citroen-considering-return-to-north-america/Too bad that Renault sells plenty of Nissans here, otherwise they could return, too!
RichardJensen
Pretty sure they saw the way Sergio was able to obtain Fiat & Alfa Romeo dealers and thought, "we can do this if they can. We've actually got product."
twintornados
Oui Oui!! Sergio is going to learn French and convince the frogs to build their cars in his plants in North America...oh and if you don't mind, could you also throw together some Darts and 200's?? silvrsvt
"we can do this if they can. We've actually got product." But is it any good...the thing I find odd about European cars is they have stupid problems with them...like Ford Products from the 1980/90s...look at the electrical issues the Merkur had when it was imported here. I don't recall any of the Ford products my family owning since 1980 that had electrical issues out side of alternators crapping out, which is a wear item or CPU, which was just a by-product of bad ESD or other factors of the era. Anthony
My first car was a French car. A 1985 Renault Alliance Convertible DL. I will never... NEVER own French car again. It surrendered on me less then a year after I got it. Looked just like this....(before being towed to the junkyard).
silvrsvt
French car story...my dad was driving his 86 Escort GT into work one day. Got rear-ended by a Renault Fuego....his car had a couple scuff marks on the bumper (we pulled it off and there was some slight impact damage to sheetmetal under the foam that made up the bumper)...the Fuego was pretty much totaled....leaking coolant all over the place and refused to start up after that. The Nissan Sentra is a French design (Renault Megeane). They seem to have made strides and probably shouldn't be ruled out for something they designed around 30 years ago. Many of the 80's Escorts and Tempos were in the same junkyard that car went to and we still buy Fords.
bolt in blue
I rented a Renault Captur in 2014. It was a great little car and I'd happily rent it again. It felt much better built than the VW Golf I rented a week later.
bzcat
PSA is bring us DS cars designed for China. I'll bet it will most likely be imported from China too.
630land
When the Kenosha WI built Alliance came out for '83, people bought them thinking "an import design built in America!". And got buff book awards. But by year 2, the bloom was off the rose. Lots of unsold leftovers in summer '87, when Chrysler bought out AMC, and I think they just got scrapped. aneekr
I know that "made in France" and "French" aren't synonymous, but there are at least couple passenger car models that are currently exported from France to the U.S.: Smart fortwo and Toyota Yaris. They still make the Yaris? I haven't seen one in ages....with that said, I'll see half dozen on my way home

aneekr
Do those really count as "cars"? By French standards, they do. Then again in France, there's a category of "car" labelled voiture sans permis that doesn't require a driver's license to operate on public roads. The little car you can drive in France without a licence
