SoonerLS
You wanna spin your wheels on wet pavement, try a pickup. Absolutely worthless with an empty bed. If you want wheel spin, drive Beltline Road in the DFW area when it's damp. Holy cats, that's one unnecessarily slick road.

fordmantpw
Pulling out of a car wash after having the tire shine applied is fun too. Limited slip rear ends make it worse because you don't have one non-spinning tire to keep you planted.

rperez817
Wall Street wasn't too impressed, said the presentation lacked specifics. Wasn't that the problem with Fields? Yes sir. This is worrisome. A lot of investors and analysts had higher expectations of Hackett. Hopefully more details and clarity about Hackett's strategy will come out soon. Sevensecondsuv
He shoulda just copied gm and said "we're going 100% electric. We don't know how or when, but that's what we're going to do!!!!" Stock price would have doubled instantly Edited October 5, 2017 by Sevensecondsuv
Sevensecondsuv
Yeah I found that out leaving work one day in my Ranger. Thank goodness it was in the parking lot. I drive a 2wd ranger daily. You just get used to spinning tires. It's actually kinda handy for drifting around corners once you get used to it.

Wall Street wouldn't have been impressed even if he had spelled out specifics. Then it would've been "he was too specific! He's giving away all their secrets, he should've been less candid in reporting their plans. We don't think they can adhere to this timeline, blah blah blah!!"

Oh, he has a new excuse--"production bottlenecks." Apparently that's why they've produced 260 Model 3s instead of the 1,500 they had promised for Q3... Without new strategies, Ford as a company will die. Hackett mentioned this in the presentation. Even though there was less meat to Ford's presentation than what everyone was expecting, Hackett's talks about Ford's mandate to compete, spending cuts, and better operations management are good starting points. I still think Hackett is the right man for Ford CEO.

Interesting they show their car future being dependent on "value partnerships". Wonder what they have in mind? Hmm.
blazerdude20
Then you must have crappy tires. Seriously - nothing should spin the drive wheels from a dead stop with light throttle on a wet road. Nope. Top line Bridgestone all seasons. Never had a car so finicky on the front wheels. At least its fun when you get moving.

Anthony
My Focus also chirps the tires when I am making a turn from a stop (like making a turn onto a road). I'm not even goosing the throttle, it is kinda embarrassing sometimes. I feel like a kid trying to show off, but it just does it. Mind you the tires only have about 5k on them and I don't experience any bad traction otherwise. Weird.
silvrsvt
My parents FWD Escape with the 2.0L Ecoboost also will chirp tires no problem, even when you don't want to. Then again thats easy to do with 245-hp/275-lb-ft
akirby
Cough cough That was the opposite of "all the details". What the analysts seem to want is to know every product Ford is coming out with and all the details on those models 3-4 years in advance. Ridiculous. Anthony
Off topic: I just noticed the Bronco's tail looks like someone's arm and hand giving a thumb's up. jpd80
I've been thinking about global platforms and in the past, the originators for C1, CD4, Fiesta, have all prioritized that car variant which got the lion's share of product development and then the Utility derivatives were developed as incremental product. What I see Hackett doing is reversing those roles, project costs wil go mainly onto the utilities while cars will get less financial load and importance.... It's just shifting amounts from column A to Column B. Edited October 6, 2017 by jpd80

theoldwizard
How about buying-out Panasonic's share of the GigaFactory? Panasonic is the "brains" behind all the "black magic" chemistry inside all of those cells ! You don't want to kill the "goose that laid the golden egg !"
