Emergency Spare Tire "Donut" for 18` EcoSport w/16`` Wheels & 4 Lugs

Just took delivery yesterday of my 2018 Ford EcoSport. Diamond White with Medium Stone Cloth Interior in "S" Trim. Looks very much like a Ford Escape on a serious Diet! A bit smaller both inside an out compared to my 2017 Honda HR-V. Similar front seat room as my previous Fiesta Hatchback. I previously purchased a Emergency Spare Tire "Donut" for my 2013 Ford C-Max. Perfect fit from a similar year Ford Fusion. Anyone have an idea what will work for this 16`` 4 Lug EcoSport? So far, the only Emergency Donut that seems to match up would be a 1989-2013 Fox Body Mustang. Same 16`` Wheel size/4 Lug and 108mm radius spacing. Any other possible ideas to supplement the Emergency Tire Inflator an the Can of Sealant Goo?

PS: After my "Rant" I finally located an EcoSport (without) the lovely Factory Pre-Installed Front License Plate Bracket by chance in Fort Meyers, FL. The same day, 2 identical Units hit the lot in Miami the same day, go figure.

Thanks! If you think it might fit, I will grab one on Ebay!

.

The only concern would be "offset" but then again, its a donut wheel...Go to a junk yard and see if they have a return policy...buy it and try the fit...if it works, there ya go...if not, bring it back and call it a day...or find a local Mustang club and see if a member wants to give you a hand....Mustang clubs are usually the friendliness groups around...the real trick would be to find an aluminum version...usually they were for Cobra and GT versions...super light and really cool, but if you just want a temporary and don't really give a hoot - steelie is the cheapest way out.

Focus would be another example - but I don't know the bolt pattern size...

Try finding one from an old pre-2012 Focus or a 90s escort. I dont think the stud pattern on the hub changed all that much through the years.

Great idea an they are much less expensive then the old Fox Body Mustang Emergency Spare Tire Donut. Too bad despite the 4 Lug 108 mm radius, they only came in 15`` Rim size. The older Fox Body Mustangs used a 4 Lug 16`` Rim. EcoSport in S an SE Trim are both 16``.

does it really matter since its a temporary spare anyway? Not trying to be a dick, im just asking.

Very interesting. According to the order guide the inflator kit is standard. But on S models you can get the rear mounted spare tire as an option. But that option is not available on SE, SES or Titanium trims.

I’m guessing that means there isn’t room for temp spare under the cargo area.

I am wondering if a savvy dealer would keep some of the rear mounted spare tire kits in stock and offer it as a "dealer installed" option...

The full size Rear Door Mounted Spare Tire is a option for a mere $185 with Jack assembly. To me, it looks ugly compared to the Vehicle without the Rear Mounted Tire but as they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I have had (bad) experience years ago with other Rear Door Mounted Spare Tires. The Tire protrudes beyond the Bumper therefore becoming "The Bumper". Instead of having a scuffed Bumper with a light "tap", thousands of dollar damage if you either back up an lightly touch anything and even more likely, if someone slightly rolls into you. The 15`` Focus 4 Lug Rim might work but since the Emergency Donut is kind of sketchy anyhow, why have it even more unbalanced by having 1, 15`` Rim an 3, 16`` Rims until you get the Tire repaired. Without the Optional Full Size Door Mounted Spare Tire, everyone gets a lovely Emergency Tire Inflator with a Can of Sealant Goo.

What is more important is overall diameter of the temp spare....as long as it is the same overall diameter, the rim size is irrelevant...the only concern would be rim clearances on the brake, suspension, and steering assemblies...

The question remains - is there room for a donut spare underneath the cargo area?

I reported that unless you order the Option Rear Door Mounted Full Size Spare Tire for $185, everyone else, regardless of Trim Level gets the Toy Mini-Air Inflator an a Can of Sealant Goo.

No! The Rear Trunk Tray has 3 Levels of adjustment but none will allow a Mini Emergency Spare Donut to fit. Just throw it in either the Trunk or Rear Seat for long Road Trip with a proper fitting Share Tire Cover.

NO! Just like with the Ford C-Max, there is no room for proper storage. Just get a Donut Cover an throw it into the Trunk or Rear Seat for long Highway Trips. No need for a Jack Assembly either. AAA or Ford Roadside Service will make the Swap if necessary.

Perhaps you are correct but logic seems to lead that one would be better of utilizing a 16`` Emergency Spare Tire Donut then a 15`` one since the Vehicle comes with 16`` Wheels.

On my Lincoln MKX, it has 20" rim/tires that I take off for the winter and run dedicated snows on 17" rims from a 2005 Ford Five Hundred....I put 17" tires on that had the same overall diameter as the 20" tires I run the other three seasons with no issues. Before I committed to the 17" rims though....I took one and put it on the car to check clearance with brakes/suspension/steering components...fits fine without any contact and I have done it now for the past three winter seasons....

Maybe I will take a chance a get a 15`` Ford Focus 4 Lug Emergency Donut instead of the much more expensive 16`` Fox Body Mustang version. Just matched up 17`` Wheel with same 17`` Emergency Donut with my old C-Max an it worked out fine.

.

I hope it all works out - take a picture if you think of it....love how the old "mix-n-match" junkyard deals can still work to accommodate a need.....I just thought it was cool that your Ecosport bolt pattern was the same as my 1983 Mustang GLX...
