Assimilator
This has been noticed for awhile now but it stands to reason the Mini Bronco is the Maverick and Timberline might be a "Rugged" trim level like Jeep's Trailhawk. Imagine a Timberline Bronco, Edge, Explorer, Expedition, Escape, EcoSport, Maverick, etc... Ford has very specifically said it wants to launch rugged utilities and I'm sure Jeep is a major influencer there. Maverick has been used recently for small utilities globally. I've already seen comments on Maverick, "most boring car ever" "a Pinto with a trunk".
Anthony
Am I the only one who thought the 70's Maverick was actually a very good looking car (in 2 door trim)?
PREMiERdrum
Am I the only one who thought the 70's Maverick was actually a very good looking car (in 2 door trim)? I nearly bought a yellow Maverick coupe before I bought the Falcon... I think for the era they were great looking.
akirby
2 doors aren't bad. We had a poop brown 4 door with vinyl seats that absolutely sucked.

bzcat
Also the big bumpers in later years ruined the look of Maverick.
sullynd
You missed the Grabber edition of the Maverick. Imagine using that name in 2018. They have had Grabber Blue. My grandma had an awesome yellow Maverick. Most people will have no memory of the Maverick.
Stray Kat
Too bad there was never a high performance version of the Maverick in the U.S. Undoubtedly this is due to not wanting to usurp the Mustang as the performance car. The thing is though the Nova SS...........
grbeck
They have had Grabber Blue. My grandma had an awesome yellow Maverick. Most people will have no memory of the Maverick. My best friend's family bought a brand-new 1970 Maverick coupe. It was not a bad car. They kept it for eight years. His older brother later bought a used 1971 Mercury GT coupe (the Comet equivalent of the Maverick Grabber). Again, it wasn't a bad car. The coupes were good-looking cars for that time. As bzcat noted, the big bumpers added for 1974 ruined the styling. Edited May 2, 2018 by grbeck
NLPRacing
Here's a Maverick with a 2.3L EcoBoost that was built by Sung Kang (Han from Fast & Furious). https://www.autoblog.com/2016/11/02/sung-kang-ecoboost-ford-maverick-sema-2016/

630land
Old Maverick based on the Falcon platform, same as the first Mustang, so lots of after market parts interchange. And can easily change the 74-77 bumpers to older style. Edited May 3, 2018 by 630land

Assimilator
Just something to note about this Trademark but "Maverick" is also the name of their 2.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost engines.
rmc523
Just something to note about this Trademark but "Maverick" is also the name of their 2.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost engines. Are these new 2.0/2.3 EB engines? I never knew they were called Maverick engines.
